Microwave touch panel is unhinged at the bottom

A bad fuse is one of the most common problems on microwaves, including Whirlpool ovens. Most modern microwaves use the same style of fuse which you can find at most appliance and electronics stores. The difficulty of replacing the fuse in a Whirlpool microwave can vary depending on whether you are working on a countertop microwave or a built-in. Knowing where to start can make the process much easier for either style of microwave. Countertop Microwaves Step 1 Unplug the microwave and let it sit for a few minutes before beginning repairs. Bring it to a clear area with enough room to work. Leave enough room to have access to it on all sides. Step 2 Remove the Phillips screws from the outer shell of the microwave. The screws are located along the lower sides and around the edges of the back. Put the screws into a bucket or bowl to keep them together. Pull the shell away from the microwave, and set it to the side. Step 3 Look for the fuse inside the exposed controls of the microwave. The fuse is located in a small receptacle with two wires running to it. Use a flat screwdriver to pry up from the bottom of the fuse. The fuse will pop out. Replace the fuse with a new one. Built-in Microwaves Step 1 Unplug the microwave, and let it sit for a few minutes before beginning repairs. Step 2 Open the microwave door, and look for two Phillips screws along the left side of the control panel. Remove these screws. Lift up on the control panel, and tilt it outward. The control panel will rest on its hinges. Step 3 Find the fuse receptacle within the control area. Is is usually located to the left or center of the cavity. You will see two wires that go to either end of a small, plastic receptacle. Use a flat screwdriver to pry up on the bottom of the fuse. The fuse will pop out. Replace the fuse with a new one.

The touch screen has built in semiconductors that sometimes become intermittent, the only solution is to replace the touch screen.

This can be a sticker that glues to the panel and it is possible that the touch pad glue had come off.
You need to refix this to the panel if this seems to come off.

try opening up the control panel,disconnect the connector ribbon coming from control panel and connected 2 control board by just pulling it out and cleaning end of connector ribbon and iserting it back.some times this works.if not then 4 sure touch panel needs to be replaced.

HI, unfortunately, the actual part you need(Control board), has been discontinued. it is best to just purchase a newer unit in this case. This unit is not repairable at this time due to the unavailability of the components.

First, remove the plastic vent / louver going across the top of the unit. Once that's off, you should see one phillips screw at the top of the control panel frame. Remove that screw, then lift up and out on the control panel assembly. You're there!

SOME ELECTRONIC CONTROLS HAVE A LOCKOUT FEATURE THAT IS ENGAGED AND DISENGEGED BY HOLDING A CERTAIN BUTTON FOR 5 SECONDS. LOOK FOR A LOCK PAD AND HOLD IT FOR 5 SECONDS TILL IT BEEPS.

IF NOT AVAILABLE, THE TOUCH PAD MAY BE UNPLUGGED FROM THE MAIN P.C. BOARD OR MAY BE DEFECTIVE.

ALSO, TRY UNPLUGGING THE MICROWAVE FOR 5 MINUTES
TO RESET THE MICROCOMPUTER, THEN PLUG IT BACK IN AND SEE IF IT WORKS.

AN ELECTRICAL OUTLET NOT WIRED WITH PROPER POLARITY OR NOT GROUNDED CAN AFFECT ELECTRONIC APPLIANCES ALSO.

IF YOU HAVE THE MICRWAVE PLUGGED IN AND THE CIRCUIT BREAKER TRIPS IMMEDIATELY WHEN SET,
CHECK THE DOOR HOOKS THAT TRIP THE DOOR SWITCHES. BOTH SHOULD BE SPRING LOADED. THERE SHOULD BE TWO HOOKS ON THE DOOR. IF O.K., CHECK THE DOOR SWITCHES. THERE ARE AT LEAST THREE. IF ONE OF THEM IS SHORTED CLOSED,
THE MONITOR SWITCH WILL CAUSE A DEAD SHORT ACROSS THE FUSE. THE FUSE MAY BE HOLDING BETTER THAN YOUR CIRCUIT BREAKER.
