On the back of the cinavision you have two groups of sockets. The yellow socket under Video out is picture. Red and white is sound. Connect them to the TV's yellow red white sockets marked Video In 1. This connection will give you picture and sound from either the VCR or the DVD deck.
There's a better picture quality available for DVDs only from the Component video out sockets (green red blue). Next to them is another set of audio sockets (red white). Connect all five sockets to the TV's input number 2. The colours match up. The picture from Component will be clearer and sharper.
On your Sharp TV remote, select Video 1 to watch VCR, and Video 2 to watch DVDs.

DVD produces a great picture with sound - but the VCR is not producing a picture? is it snowy? or a black screen? if it is a black screen, the video output from the VCR is possibly faulty, this is not economical to repair. If it is just snow, and there is slight evidence of a playback picture from your tapes, try cleaning the video heads with a head cleaning cassette (available from eBay and electronics stores as a discontinued stock item).
Since Hi-Fi VCRs have the left and right stereo track on their head drums, and this drum becomes worn or dirty, the sound deteriorates along with the picture - mono sound usually with lots of snow.
This is a combo unit - it has a VCR/DVD common output section on the rear - allowing DVD and VCR pictures to be viewed when the respective drive is selected. When you checked your input connection, did you check the rear of the unit? you may have connected 'DVD priority out' instead of the VCR/DVD common out. If you did connect the common out, and still have no VCR picture, try the head cleaning suggestion as above. If that fails, consider replacing the unit as a last resort.
I am offering this suggestion 'gratis' -

Cant' get remote buttons to work. No buttons work so can not watch DVD or Tape but can hear sound. Without the TV/VCR button not respondingnit won't switch over.
The DVD will play through component, composite, or HDMI, but you have to hook the VCR up separately with component cables - look at the back of the combo, you'll see where it says "VCR". That's where the cables have to go. Pretty silly, but I had the same problem, and this is the only solution I could come up with.
My dear friend I think you maybe by mistake put the function progresive scan on the dvd check on the remote control for that function and try to deactivate.Good luck
Perfect picture on TV, DVD and VCR, but no color means you have selected the wrong color system.Since you are in the UK, make sure that the VCR Color system is also set to PAL. Perhaps it is wrongly set to SECAM?
