Is there a reset button on montgomery ward 8838

If it is not getting cold I would first check the t-stat to see if it is operational only after seeing if there is power to the t-stat. If it is good then you most likely have a compressor problem. Check the overload on the compressor under the black cover on the side of the compressor if power is getting through that and still not running then comp is shot.

good luck

Philco Freezer - replace/repair seal & plastic around top

    Good day,
Unlikely you would be able to repair if the inner liner is coming apart.
A local appliance parts house may be able to supply universal gasket to fit to the machine but again, if the inner liner is bad it could prove to be fruitless.

Oddly enough, if you visit supermarkets you will see chest type freezers with no top at all.
Seems like a terrible loss, but it's not.
Cold air falls, hot air rises. When the freezer generates cold air it doesn't spill out the top. It settles into the bottom of the freezer, and stays there. Likewise, warm air rises and has no interest in going into the freezer cavity.
    Bottom line. Very little loss.
If appearance doesn't matter, and you can get it close, you should be able to continue to use it.
Your choice, but I thought you would like to know the physics involved here and how it does or doesn't affect you.

    Chest freezer lid repair

if your freezer has the sping etc in each of the hinges, then yes take them off. If your freezer has a torshon bar type spring, DO NOT take the hinges off, as you will not get it back together

i have always replaced liners with the door attached. The lid of the freezer is going to bow out of shape when you remove all the screws and take the old lining off, so you need to replace the lining and leave the screws loose so you can realine the door bit by bit.
it is a bastard of a job, and i wish you all the best.

Kenmore 12 Chest Freezer - Needs New Lid

    searspartsdirect.com

All you need is the model number

It gives you a list of all parts you can buy to replace what's broken, as for the frost try placing a sheet of plastic over the insulation, under the the plastic cover to keep moisture and humidity out of the insulation.

Door liner on chest freezer broke due to ice build-up

if you can't find a replacement, use a piece of flat vinyl siding that goes on houses. You can heat it and bend it as needed, or cut it and screw the pieces to a balsa wood frame for lightweight support. Glue or epoxy probably won't work as the cold temps make them brittle but external caulking may be ok to hold the pieces together. Be sure to sand all edges and corners as the cut plastic can be sharp. If you can disassemble the unit and place the door face down, you can fill the cavity with insulating foam to help stabilize it.
