You can even delete the whole account, but don't access it within 14 days, because if you do so, they keep the account "alive".
First try to delete as much as you can from the old account, so nothing can pop up after years.

Follow these steps ; 1. The first step that you have to do is deactivate your account and once
that is completed you will be able to permanently delete your
information.
Log into your Facebook account using your
username and password of the account you would like to close. This
should take you to the homepage of your account. If you are not on the
homepage, click Home in the navigational bar. 2.Click the settings link in your Facebook navigation bar. Once you are
in your settings you will need to delete all of your email addresses
except one. This is a very important step because you can only have one
email address to permanently delete your account. 3. While you are in the Settings page find the the deactivation link and go through the deactivation process. 4. Go to this page: http://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=delete_account
Click "Submit" and follow the instructions.
Your account will be deactivated for two weeks, and if you don't log in during that period, your account is permanently deleted.
Hit the blue Submit button and your account will be deleted in a few days. Be careful though -- once you delete it's permanent! You lose all your information. Make sure you log-in first before clicking the link; otherwise, you will get a generic contact form.
