Digital tuner tv works fine in analog, but in digital it breaks up.

  • Fuzzwegians Apr 11, 2008

    Same problem here.
I also have a digital set-top box, and if I connect the same antenna to this and run it via HDMI to the TV the picture is fine, so I suspect the problem lies with the digital tuner in the TV itself.
TV ran fine for three months, and only now is acting up. Digital TV is unwatchable on the TV currently. Will be checking with the shop and post what I find out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If the signal breaks up and the picture looks like small squares with audio coming in and out its 99% of the time signal / reception how old is your ariel it may not be suitable for digital.

Can I connect a digital tuner into a old analog tuner using a digital converter box?

The Coax from the Antenna is analogue, so that is not going to work. It would have to be Coax to analogue tuner, and to digital if it has a digital out, or if the digital box has an analogue in.

No TV broadcast picture. Is this a tuner problem?

yes it does seem to be a tuner problem , I also wonder what happens when you use the auto channel finder and tuner usually found in the set up section of the menu ? As well as was your TV working before and receiving input via the antennae but has now stopped working in this regard ? I also noted that attaching an analog to digital converter box worked fine , so your TV is capable of receiving a signal via that method , dose the converter box use your antennae input jack or a video jack to send the converted signal into your TV ? if it is using your antennae jack then it may not be a tuner problem .

How to switch from analog to digital

The LED LCD TV's came out in 2009. It already has a built in digital HD tuner.

Allen wants to know how to switch the TV between the built in analog tuner and built in digital tuner.

Switching between the two tuners is done by means of the "TV mode" switch on the remote control.

You will NOT be able to select analog channels if have NOT done analog tunning.

If you need to do a retuning then hit the "menu" button select "setup" then "plug and play" enter the default pin number 0000. When you are selecting the channel source to memorize make sure you select "digital and analog". This will then cause the TV to tune and memorize both the analog and digital channels.

For details refer to page 8 of the user manual.

TV tuner card will not display digital TV

And, unfortunately, it never will. TV tuners cards are almost exclusively an analog connection. You would need to convert the signal to analog using a secondary device, such as any of these:

http://www.google.com/search?q=512mb+xd+card&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#sclient=psy&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3Aofficial&biw=1920&bih=1073&tbs=shop:1&q=digital+converter+box&aq=0&aqi=g5&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&fp=84578a1e35ef3dc7

It will work pretty easily...set your TV tuner card to the appropriate channel as detailed in the converter's manual and you should be fine.

You could also see if your cable provider's box has any analog outputs (yellow red white or screw-on coax).

Digital or analog tuner

Your set has a NTSC tuner for the over air broadcasts. You will need a converter box if you wish to use an antenna. If you have cable or satellite, you are fine.

Cannot get tuner to work - dvd works fine

Analog TV broadcasting is done now. Unless your TV has a digital tuner already built in, you'll need a converter box to get any channels now. The DVD player part will still work, as you've already discovered. If your TV does have a digital tuner, try going through the setup and scan for channels.

HP pc with built-in tv tuner

Have 9, 5 and 13 turned entirely digital as yet, so as to leave you without their signal?

From what you say, the tv tuner in your HP receives analog signals better than or instead of digital signals the stations you can receive may be analog while 9, 5, and 13 may have dispensed with their analog transmitters.

They don't have to until June, since the changeover was delayed from the original February cutoff date by Act of Congress. It is actually easier to receive a digital signal than an equally powered analog equivalent so the fact that your system worked so well with analog signals bodes well for the efficiency of your indoor antenna arrangement, though you may have to replace the possibly analog receiver in your pc with a usb digital thumbdrive like model to continue after the changeover is final.

Here's a tip...if the receiver in your pc resembles a square aluminum tin can, mounted on a PCI card in one of your slots, it is very likely analog and not digital.

Usually these receivers (or actually TUNERS) are heavily sheilded while digital receivers do not require the same amount of sheilding to avoid interference with other components, which is the concept of the big square tin can, that a digital tuner does not require.
