My answering machine has gone on the fritz. I can't understand the messages, because they are muffled and garbled.

I fixed the same problem by unplugging the phone and I could understand the messages again. This time it didn't work.

SOURCE: answering machine incoming message is

Is this a new machine or did this just start happening?

If it is new, simply take it back and get a new one. If used then it could be the recorder or the memory unit. There really isn't an option to fix this problem. Anything would cost more than getting a new machine. Let me know what you want to do and whatever direction you take I would be glad to help you.

Just let me know

SOURCE: vtech model 6053 answering machine will not record message

Perhaps your answering machine needs to be set set to accept messages. Maybe your message machine memory is full of messages?

I accidentally deleted an answer I wanted to hear on an AT&T 1719 answering machine. I read the manual and noticed that messages cannot be recovered. Who makes an answering machine with an "undelete"...

Once you delete a message on a consumer answering machine, it's gone. The only option is to save all messages until the machine signals that it's out of room. Even with a tape-based answering machine or professional voicemail systems, once you erase a message, it's gone.

Can not record a clear voice message

The internal microphone might be failing. If you haven't already tried….call into the answering and recording the greeting that way.

If that's been tried and doesn't work, there isn't much more that can be done as modern electronic devices are not designed to be user fixable.

You might be able to find a used 1725 or 1726 for sale on eBay.

Answering machine is distorted and cracks

Once the audio quality of the answering system starts to go, there is very little than can be done. The 2460 has been off the market for several years and the cost to repair the unit (if it can be fixed) would probably be more than it would be to purchase a new telephone system.

ATT 5840

The processor chip that records the voice is a multi level SMD technology chip. The tech who changes it will need the proper soldering facilities for this type of work.

The only people who can service the phone are the authorized service people for ATT. They will not sell parts to non authorized service people, even if they have the proper facilities to change the chip.

For service on your phone, the service center will normaly change the complete circuit board. If the phone is out of warranty, the cost would not be worth it.

Answering machine replay is garbled

Your handset battery will have no effect on the answering machine audio, providing your regular audio is fine (its fine when you make a phone call right?), I will assume yes. I have seen this problem in these models, and your problem lies in your base station, and the only fix you can attempt is to go into base programming and delete as much as you can out of the memory, greetings, old messages, etc.. Power down, then power back up again. Call in and leave a message. See if it sounds better through the handset or the speaker on the base when you play it back. If its garbled both ways (reviewing through the handset or on the speaker base) , then your problem is in your base memory. If it is just garbled on your handset, then it may be a radio module problem with the base, either way it probably needs to go in for repair. I don't know if Panasonic still repairs that model, but if you google Panasonic cordless telephone repair, you will find someone. Good Luck, CG
