Samsung RL38SCSW Fridge Freezer not Cooling

Hope someone can help me out with this. We have a Samsung fridge freezer RL38SCSW. I've used it for 4-5 years without a glitch. Past few days I've notice the very top section is nowhere being cold warmish, and in the freezer section has white powdery snow forming that i've never seen before. right aroung the drawers and inside the edges of the main door. The bottom half of the fridge is coolish but the top one is barely warm. How can I sort this out ??

Sounds like an air leak around a door seal or the ice maker chute door is open causing frost buildup on evaporator and everything inside the freezer. You also may have a defrost drain line blockage

Testimonial: "Thanks. Its been sorted. Opened the back panel, including the 2nd one which is grey. there was a small passage that going into the fridge that was blocked with ice. all the coils were clean and not iced over or frozen. just that little opening that was blocked with solid ice. Haven't opened up a fridge before so pleased to get it sorted."

Sounds like you had a a defrost drain line blockage. That passageway is the defrost drain. Thanks for letting everyone know!

SOURCE: Samsung Fridge Freezer (Freezer on top) Model SR-52NXA Freezer is cold but fridge is not cooling ?

remove evrything from bottom of freezer. take out the shelves . You will see a panel on the back of the unit with screws holding it on take these off . under it is the freezer exchange coils they got froze up,
and frosted full so now no air is circulated between the cabintes, refridge and freezer do not use any sharp object to clear it use a towel and blow dryer to thaw it even a spray bottle with warm water, but don't pick at it!!!! you can puncture the coils . take your time and you will save your unit. also while your at it pull it away from the wall remove that small panel from the back, and the grill from the front and with your long reach nozzle vacuum the heat ex changer coils under the unit. put back together carefully and it will run for a while longer i have one that is a 72 model still runs great Oh any change you find is mine!

Samsung fridge freezer RL38SCSW fridge isn't cooling freezer is fine please help

Hi Hannipan,
I know this is a bit late but it should help for others. We had the same problem with our RL38SCSW (caused by the freezer door being left ajar for the day) the problem is caused by the freezer trying to cool down the unit and goes into overdrive by freezing all the cooling coils in the back. The air can't circulate (via the use of the fan) and so the freezer stays cold but no cold air travels up to the fridge.
Take out all of the freezer trays and behind there is a plastic cover held in by one screw, remove this and carefully remove the cover (the top part needs to be pressed downwards to release) under there is a grey plastic cover this will most likely be frozen to the back so don't pull it. Use a hair dryer and try to melt the ice. Remove two more screws which hold it in place and eventually it should come out easily. Now you can see the coils behind are frozen up, leave them to defrost (don't chip at them! or alternatively use a hairdryer to help melt the ice) Once it's de-iced put it back together and you'll be good to go again.
(Make sure you don't keep the hairdryer and one area of the fridge you'll melt the plastic and also make sure you turn off the freezer at the plug before working on it)

Fridge and Freezer losing cooling

we bought a f&p fridge freezer and in summer noticed it wasn't cooling and the freezer wasn't freezing, when the service guy came out he noticed our ducted air con was blowing onto the fridge, once we had redirected the air con outlet the fridge started working as normal, apparently f&p's work on air being convected around the cabinet of the fridge and air blowing on the fridge can effect the temperature of the convected air. hope this helps you or someone

Fan not working on fridge section of Hotpoint Fridge Freezer Model FFA90

the problem is there is a build up of ice insid of the freezer .
What you need to do is take out all your draws in the freezer and you will see a plastic backing held on with about 8 screws . undo all the screws and the back should come aay and you will see all the ice built up . just use a hair drier to melt the ice and that should cure your problem.
