Stiff hose on new Dyson Animal upright

Actually the hose is fine, but you really need to break it in... Dyson should have a robot at the factory break in the new hoses before shipping them with the new vacuums. I just got my first Dyson and it's an Ball Animal 2. Anyhow, I noticed immediately the new tube on the new vacuum was incredibly stiff. To the point that making use of the wand and attachments becomes a complete frustration.

Such an experience is not uncommon because engineers rarely dog food their own creation out of the box... Anyhow...

I had to stretch and massage my new hose aggressively for 20 minutes to get it to the point the vacuum wouldn't just flop over when I pulled it out. With the vacuum off I pinned it on the corner of the couch and maxed the hose out. Sitting 12 feet away watching TV I stretched and relaxed the hose over and over, pulling the full length a little harder every time. After 10 minutes of that I sat next to the vacuum and starting at the base of the hose, I aggressively stretched 3" of collapsed hose out to 12" with all my strength about 5 times like an accordion, over and over, before moving up to the next bit of hose. Repeat this workout the length of the hose. Now, I'm 6'6" and strong for a strong man, by the time I finished, the hose worked as seen in the marketing footage.

Happy hose stretching...

I have a vax upright model number u88-w1-p. Its suctions ok on the machine but no no suction through the hose. Could there be a hole in the hose?

It is likely filled with dirt where the hose connects to the base. They can be hard to take off so becareful you don't break something.

Hi. I have a Dyson Animal DC28, purchased on June 28th of 2010. The wand is stuck in the hose and I cannot remove it to use it.

I think I figured this out. If the hose gets twisted too many times while being used, the pole has a hard time going in and out for removal. (Kind of like how old phone cords got all twisted up after use for a while) To get it out, lift the pole out as far as you can then tug on the hose pulling it down & out ways until you can work the pole all the way up to get it out. Once out, detach the hose from the wand and turn it a few time (I had to go counter clockwise) to un twist the hose a little. Seemed to fix this problem for me.

Hole in hose

according to the schematic it doesnt look like you can take that coupling apart. Usually when one has a problem with an electric canister hose its just easier to replace the hose because trying to shorten it without damaging the internal electrical wires and reassembling with the hose working is very unlikely. the hose part # is 43433113. you might have a hard time finding it tho. that hose was discontinued on 1/09 (same time that dirt devil bought out hoover and moved them over to china.) if you need anything else feel free to let me know.

The wand is hard to pull up

The wand on this machine get lots of tiny dirt and fine dust caught in the sliding tube that fits in the hose. You will need to take the hose at its cuff end where it meets the wand and press the two tabs to release the wand out, then take some spay cleaner of any kind and wipe down the wand tube. This should make it easy to slide in and out of the hose. Now just put it back together.

My hose is losing suction whenever i extend it

when you strech it the inside gets smaller causing the air having a hard time to flow through. it's clogged most likely. check the hose and clean it out or i suggest taking it off the vacuum, take it outstide and spray a hose thorugh it and let it dry

No suction with attatchments

if you have cleaned all the filters, there are two you need to wash and the hepa on the back may need to be changed, but the hose is probablly clogged. You can usually remove the hose ( twist it where the hose connects to the machine ) and use a broom stick to try and push the clog out.

Hose connection broken.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
If you have a broken hose connection, and not knowing the brand name of the vacuum, I can suggest 2 things. If you have an electric hose, meaning that it is attached to a electric power head or power nozzle, some can be repaired depending on what was wrong, but most of the time you have to replace the hose, some pigtails can be replaced but if the electric connection is broken, you need to replace the hose. If it is a non-electric hose, you can use a shrink tube, or cut out the broken part and use a hose cuff to join them together, so just shorten the hose and screw back on the original ends. In either case you need to check with a local vac dealer. Or you can make a new hose with new ends and leave the canister @ the bottom of the stairs and go up with just the long hose, unless you have an upright then you have to make it the length that is on the upright. Or replace it with the genuine hose from the factory or use the ends from the old hose on the replacement hose. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Suction loss?

hi samdan... have you checked all the hose attachment vents .. ie Under the vacuum as well... How long is it since you replaced the filters?

Try giving the Yellow cone inside a blow out. these tend to become clogged from time to time!
