At the motor? That is odd. Is the part plastic? BMW currently sells a metal thermostat cover for this car. The 6-cyl BMWs used a plastic thermostat cover which failed routinely.
The BMW thermostat cover should cost you about $50 at the dealer or $40 on line. Gasket is sold separately. You will want to replace the thermostat while you have the thermostat cover off.

Yes. The bumper is required by law and is the physical steel bumper. The bumper cover commonly referred to as the bumper "face" is cosmetic and not required by law but make your car look much better cosmetically. Hope this helps.

Buy a plastic cutting board. Cut it into a 16 inch circle and put a handle on it. Works better than original, keeps things colder!

Yes of course you can buy a new one. To fix the broken cover you should replace it with a new one.
You can remove that but take caution and if your not sure how to do that, get someone who can do it for you, specially a qualified technician. Ask the vendor of your laptop about the plastic cover replacement.

Replace it with the same sized tubing that you can buy at the Hardware store. just get the length you need they sell it by the foot. DFD

Windex has Ammonia in it. Ammonia eats plastics. It's just cosmetic, but if it really bothers you, all you can do is mask it off and touch it up with some spray paint.
