My Sylvania TV just shut off by itself what can I do

Sylvania 6613LD 13 in.I use to work for them.

your powersupply is dying in the set.. have it checked..

Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

If the TV were in my shop I would first suspect the PSU is failing as it reaches a certain temperature. Capacitors most likely.

If you have a capacitance tester, then it will be easy, if not.....

The capacitors that have / are failing will generally be "bulged" on the top.

However, it is worth noting that they are only a few pennies each, if it were me I would change them all for equivalents.

my same make tv shuts off afetr so long by itself

My Sylvania T.V. turns on and then it turns off by itself. It only stays on for onr minute.

It's definitely some kind of cooling problem, or a cold solder joint that looses connection when things warm up. Can you turn it back on right away after it shuts itself off? You can purchase a freezing spray and use that to spray different areas on the circuit boards to find the problematic one, then you can get down to an individual component.

Hi channyfanny. Have you tried beating on the set, LIGHTLY!!!
After it has shut off??? If it tries to come back on when you do this, it may be a bad solder joint or cracked component in the tv, if not, it may be a faulty component in the shutdown circuit, or a high voltage problem.

Your best bet is eBay. The part you need is the backlight inverter but it is too expensive by itself. Try to buy a TV with a good screen and some other problem.
