Onkyo TX DS575x reciever remote problem

My Onkyo remote will not control my Onkyo reciever or CD changer. The remote does work on the TV and DVD player I programed it to. I have reset the reciever and the remote and changed batteries in the remote. It hasn't worked for some months then the other day it worked for a day then quit again. Any suggestions?

thanks in advance, Luke

The remote does control other components. I don't want to spend 100.00 on another remote if the problem is the reciever. Any other suggestions?

Try to open your remote if there is loose connections on the components with the Printed circuit board, particularly its laser(Infrared) and its battery connections!

You might try this replacement

I dont have eniugh info as to
how the remote is failing is
the power or certain keys or
    what the exact failure is
If it is not a button or something
of that nature it is usually the led
or a crystal that is bad,

    Those items would require disassembly
    desoldering,finding the led or crystal
and solderling it in.(identical remote with working parts)
    but otherwise impaired

If it is a particular button it would
    require removing the button pad
    and cleaning the contacts with
an eraser and a soft brush or Isopropyl alcohol (head cleaner)
    and a cue tip to

If you are prepared to take those steps
then, and the remote cant be returned or
exchanged then you can pop it open

You might try using a universal remote
to access the receiver and cd changer
thats a quick and dirty way to verify that
the receiver/cd changer led is defective
if you have a VOM you can verify
whether the led responds to a signal
from the remote or if it is open

The surround speakers are connected to my Onkyo TX DS575X but no sound is coming from them. Same with the center. Any ideas?

There will be no sound unless a Dolby Pro Logic or similar audio signal is in use. CD/DVD, broadcast etc.

The original looks to be an RC-392M...

But they're also available on eBay.

Search "Onkyo rc392m remote" and check the 'include description' box.

Remote doesn't operate reciever

Hello Fixya customer,

Thank you for your question.

Please determine if the "Audio" button is actually working.... after pressing the audio button, can you still control the DVD, if not then the remote has switched to the Onkyo. Although, this is not 100% conclusive, unless you have a 2nd remote to test the Onkyo with, it provides a sound basis to proceed.

Assuming the remote is transmitting and the IR receiver on the front of the Onkyo is not otherwise blocked, likely faults include the IR receiver, input to the Micro processor, and the Micro processor.

The most probable fault is the IR receiver.

Thank you for using Fixya, and if I can help you further, please let me know.

How to program remote control?

Your Onkyo TX-SR304 receivers remote (RC-645S) is not capable of controlling devices by other manufacturers. It controls only Onkyo devices.
Other Onkyo remotes do have universal remote functionality and you can download Onkyo remote codes here.

I hope that helps.

Hook cable box to this receiver

I have similar situation with my TXDS 565 and could not video out of my unit after hooking up the cables properly in and out of the unit for all auxilary modules... I assume that you have tried to place your vid IN from the cable box to your units vid IN and run a vid OUT cable or S cable to your TV. If this doesn't work for you as it did not for me, then you must run your cable direct to the TV vid IN and run your audio out from the TV audio Out back to your reciever as audio IN in the Video I or II ports on the reciever unit. This will give you audio control through the rec. unit.

I suspect that my is damaged and will not function properly; yours may be too,

My unit is about 10 years old and repair is too expensive so I will run it this way until something else fails and I will replace it... probably not Onkyo.,'

Let me know if I clearify any of this.

How to program onkyo tx-sr606 receiver onto remote control

I think onkyo has not come up with codes for game console yet. Codes that are available are for DVR/VCR, CD, DVD, TV. and Setup Box. I need to get the manufacturer of those components that you have for me to be able to determine which code is appropriete for your components.

Subtitle Problem: Onkyo TX-sr605

The only remote that will definitely turn the sat subtitles on/off is the sat remote. The other subtitle buttons on the other remotes refer to the DVD subtitles and the subtitles generated by the tuner in the tv. The subtitle option is greyed out on the tv because you are not on the tv tuner.
