I have a LG 49Lf5100 TV and received a Visio Sound bar, but I don't have an out jack on the back of my TV, this was verified a Visio tech on the phone.

Connect sound bar to audio out jacks on back of tv. Go into setup and select external speaker.

A few things to try:
1) Make sure Batts. are in correctly.
2) check in all around the sides back and under the sound bar for a reset button.
3) Clean the IR emitter on the remote and the receiver on the bar. On the remote it will be a reddish plastic window or a small bulb looking thing on the front. The receiver may be harder to find. I suggest just giving the entire front of the sound bar a good cleaning. I have had remotes stop working because there was to much dust built up on the receiver. I have also found that my kids handled the remote with dirty fingers and had gotten peanut butter on the emitter! Good Luck!

easiest way would be to connect the optical audio output from the tv to the optical input on the soundbar. You may have to go into the tv's setup menu and enable the audio output jack

If you are currently using your sound system shown for your television sound then you need to use that with you sound bar plugged into it. You can hook it directly to your TV if you have an audio out but your tv has to produce enough output to run the sound bar. If your tv does have an audio out then there is a good chance you need to make those jacks active in the sound set up menu for external speakers. Some sound bars are powered and will require being plugged in as well.

There should be a left and right audio output jack on the back or side of the plasma. Plug in the bar and should run. Some TVs, under the audio menu, have a selection category for external speakers.

You have obviously connected the sound bar's RCA (red, and white) cables to the TV's IN jacks rather than the OUT jacks, OR you might have them connected to the RCA VIDEO jacks. Check it. Connect them to the TV's audio OUT jacks. Presumably, the inputs on the back of the TV are marked "audio out", and the IN connections from your sound bar must go into the OUT inputs on your TV. I can't imagine what else it could be causing the problem.

I recommend connecting your sound bar to your dish receiver as well as to the television. Play around with optical and RCA to see which one you prefer the sound of. The television isn't always the best center channel so you might find that you like this set up better with the dish receiver connected directly to the sound bar. Then you can shut of the television speakers. Some people turn the television speakers back on and leave the sound bar off for early morning breakfast news viewing. Not being sure which dish receiver you're using you might have to indicate to it how you wish to output your audio, or all outputs might be outputting at the same time all of the time.

Let verify first to narrow down to where the problem can be, attach the powered PC speakers to the Audio Line out RCA jacks to see if you can get the sound there, if you do, then the problem can be in the power amp circuits, if you do not get the sound at RCA jacks, then the problem can be in the sound processor circuit. Please post back what you find. You may be better off if the sound does work through the PC speakers, to get the TV repaired; it will be more than $100 and up.

Tested and verified solution:

1. Set Tuner Mode to "antenna".
2. Run a channel scan. Should get zero channels found.
3. Set Tuner Mode to "cable".
4. Run another channel scan.
5. Celebrate!
