SOURCE: Slight Gas Smell From Inside Whirlpool Duet Steam Dryer.

Poor pilot - or malfunctioning gas valve.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

I have a Kenmore he5 steam dryer that is dripping water out of the steam nozzle on the inside of the drum. This happens on any drying cycle and causes clothes to not dry. How do I fix this?

Does it drip just when the unit is operating or do you find water in the machine when it is not running? Try shutting the water off to the dryer and see if the dripping stops. If it does the water inlet valve needs to be replaced.

My Whirlpool Cabrio dryer has water leaking in it. How do I fix this or what's causing it?

This model has steam support, so it should have a cold water connection to it. Check for leaks where the hose connects to the rear of the dryer. If you do not use the steam feature, you can shut off the water and that will probably end your problem.

Vax leaking water & very small amount of steam

I managed to fix mine after a little effort. It was blocked well up in the nozzle into a small pinhole where the steam comes out of the 'small kettle' in the steam mop.
To fix:
  • take the blue side bit off by unscrewing the two small screws
  • Undo the screws inside (there are about 11)
  • Once these were undone there was two screws holding the nozzle cover.
  • After unscrewing these pull the nozzle cover of and scrape limescale from inside the small hole where the steam comes out
  • Put it all back together and it should work much better
You should only really do this if you are competent as there are lots of wires etc. and if your steam mop is not covered under warranty as messing around with it will void this.

Hope this helps :)

Steam nozzle

Yes, it's OK to work without steam function. Actually, it is not a real hot steam. It just spray the water.

Leaking water around base

If the iron heats but steams improperly, inspect the soleplate and clean the vents (see below) and flush sediment out of the steam chamber .

If the iron produces too much or too little heat, test the electrical cord . Also test and, if needed, adjust calibration of the thermostat .

If the iron does not spray properly, inspect and clean the nozzle.

If the iron leaks or spits, clean the steam vents, nozzle, and tank.

If the iron sticks to fabric, clean or repair the soleplate. If the iron stains fabric, clean the soleplate, clean the tank with a commercial cleaner, and use distilled or filtered water.

God bless you

Water, not steam from the nozzle

Most likely a faulty valve the lets the water come out before building the steam pressure. I have not seen a repair manual but it is not that easy to replace he valves. The valves come as a set and are made of plastic. Not that expensive but you will need to open the unit completely to replace them.
