Our Ge Zoneline Unit AZ55H15DAB is two years old. This fall, it had started making loud popping sounds and rattling noises when the compressor clicks on. The popping sounds are louder as the temperature becomes colder. The AC part of this unit worked fine this summer. The manual says that the popping sound is water hitteng the fan blades however it never happened for two winters. Anyone have an answer?
Solution - Check the internal cabling for short circuit from damage of insulation layer. Especially the electronic control board housing the switches. Replace the worn cables or tape them up with insulation tape. Fault detection- Am not familiar with your model. But I had the same fault with a 1.5 ton window aircon. When I turned on the unit in the dark of night I could discern a spark inside the aircon unit somewhere in the switch control area whenever there is the loud popping sound. Here is the culprit - shorted control cables running form the electronics board to the compressor. In my case these were wires with a sheathing conductor exposed probably gnawed through by rodents during winter when the aircon was off. What happens is whenever there is a signal voltage sent from the control panel to the power relays, the shorted cables spark giving a sharp pop sound.
Could also be that the water drain is plugged this year so the fan is hitting water that normally would drain away.Could also be that the water drain is plugged this year so the fan is hitting water that normally would drain away.

it's the aluminum defroster coils cooling after a defrost cycle.
a padded aluminum foil-covered mat installed behind the defrost heater in the back of the fridge is a fix at least for Samsung I know.
The sounds you are hearing is the defrosted water, from auto defrosting, running onto the hot compressor. This evaporates the defrosted water. This is quite normal.
Sounds like an old water heater, full of rust at bottom. maybe coming to end of its life. Think new if over 7 years old. Did you replace anode rod? Probably shot also. Good Luck...
If you can open the walls of the dryer up check all screws and bolts that hold things together. Some times they will vibrate loose causing parts to make a vibrating sound against the frame itself.. Eventually the loose screws will just keep getting looser. Even the screws on the walls of the unit should be tightened That could cause a lot of noise.
Sounds like the pipe/connection from the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve that is located at or near the throttle body has a leak. That would make a loud popping noise.
You probably have a bad compressor. It's internal parts are held up with 4 springs and one of them has probably broken and causes the compressor piston to hit the side of the comp. housing. This will happen when the ref. shuts off. To be sure, if you turn the ref off at the controls then you should hear the noise in the back. If it is less than 5 years old you can get it replaced under warranty. if more than 5 years old it will just be noisy. it will most likely last several more years like it is. Let me know if I'm right.
It sounds like you have a bad c v or constant velocity joint. Look under the car next to the wheel look for a rubber accordian type unit, if the rubber is torn or lose the grease has escaped and damaged the joint. You can replace it yourself, but if your not mechanically inclined would say take it to a shop.
