Lens won't open when turned on. - Olympus FE-340 Digital Camera

Lens covers are delicate things. A bit of dust or dirt inside and the the springs can't do their job. When cleaning doesn't work, to repair this I remove the lens cover and shorten the springs by cutting off a bit and then reattaching them. A small bit of mollyd to lubricate helps too. never use oil or silicone.

Stuck automatic lens covers are fairly. But usually it's very easy to fix, without even opening the camera. See this link for troubleshooting steps for this problem.

The gear linkage in the lens is seized or is out of alignment, this is a job for a camera specialist, I recommend estimate first.

1. Sand or foreign object in the lens cover.2. bad motor or gears.
Try cleaning with canned air while powering the camera up/down...

It may have been damaged. Was it exposed to a lot of heat?

Was the unit dropped or were any liquids messed onto the lens assembly previously ?
If dropped (particularly if the lens was open) the lens drive mechanism might well have suffered damage.
If liquids, particularly ones containing sugar, were accidently messed onto the lens assembly, then the sugar becomes sticky as the liquid dries, effectively glueing the mechanism in place.

mine has done this and I have grabbing the lens and pulling it out at the same time as I turn it on. It is a pain but it now works
