Double check your battery connections. If the battery is new and the starter makes a series of clicking noises when the key is held in the start position than you are not getting a good power supply to the starter or there is not a sufficient ground.
It may be the alternator bearing/bushing that is making the noise and may lead to alternator breakdown. This will result in battery not charging and the light on the dash coming on. You need to confirm this.
just get a jump start. if it starts properly. and it has at least 14 volts at battery while running. its a bad battery ! remove negative cable from battery while running. if alternator is not charging battery. engine will quit. if ok, replace or charge battery. good-day !
This usually indicates there is not enough power to turn the starter over, so the solenoid just clicks. It sounds like you need the battery to be charged. If this is occuring even after 20 to 30 minutes of riding, either the charging system is not working or the battery is bad (motorcycle batteries typically don't last for more than 3 years, less if they are not kept charged during the non-riding months).
If you can hear a click (quite loud) from the engine compartment, but
the starter won't crank, this also could be caused by discharged
battery.Battery problems - Discharged or dead battery is one of
the possible reasons for a car not to start. Very common is the
situation when we forget to turn the lights off overnight (the dome
light, for example), which causes the battery to drain. In this case
when attempting to start a car, all you will probably hear will be a
clicking noise - there won't be enough power to turn the starter.
Here is the simple way to check if the battery is discharged: Turn the
ignition on. With the engine off, turn the windshield wipers on. If
they move way too slow, much slower than usual, the battery is probably
discharged.
Also look at the dashboard lights - if they appear very dim, the battery
is probably discharged.
If the battery is relatively new, it can be recharged. All you need
to do is to boost your car and let the engine run for a while to charge
the battery.
However if your battery is more than three-four years
old, you will probably need to buy a new one. Sometimes, an old battery
may even die with no apparent reason, even if the day before it was OK.
If the battery is OK, the starter solenoid, starter
cables or the starter motor itself could be a problem.
your battery isnt holding enough charge to crank the starter.thats what the clicking is. try charging you battery for a good 8-10 hours, if it still does the same thing you'll need a new battery.
clicking usually sounds like a starter sometiimes when they start going bad it gets stuck that's why u only hear clicking, try tapping it with a steel bar or something it worked for me wen my car was doing that, and what u mentioned about the battery it might be that is not holding charge even if u try jump starting it
