Pneumatic air foot petal

If the machine won't work with two pedals that are good then the problem isn't the foot pedal. Does the light turn on? If this is functional then you know there is "electricity" attached to it. Since both pedals aren't functional you will have to have the motor and connecting cord (inside machine) to see which is the problem. By the way; if the problem is the cord inside the machine you may not want to plug it in. You stand a chance of getting shocked. Have it checked for safety.

When making buttonholes, the machine will not zig zag in reverse when doing the right side of the buttonhole.

1. Remove the top.
2. Clean the inside with carburetor cleaner and lubricate with sewing machine oil.
3. While After this move the stitch length back and forth from a long arm to the reverse mode. Rotate the hand wheel several times to lubricate all moving parts.
4. Place some rags under the pressure foot and watch if the rags will back up.
5. Remove the bottom of the machine.
6. Clean the bottom moving parts and lubricate.
7. Rotate the hand wheel and watch the feed dogs to see if everything is moving.
8. It is possible to notice a screw attached to the stitch length adjuster that will have to be tightened. This may require you to move other parts that are attached and apply pressure while doing this.

I lost my instructions for pattern 5527 (diaper bag). Can you help?

You could contact Simplicity and see if they can help.

or find a free diaper bag pattern on line and use as a guide.

bags arent too difficilt, usually need to interface well, attach pockets, straps, then sew lining to top edge wrong side to wrong side, leaving a bit of the lining or side seam open so you can get inside to attach lining seam allowances to bag seam allowances to hold together.

Make a rolled hem

If you want it done entirely by machine you will need a special attachment. You'd have to check the make and model of your machine to find out if there is an attachment available from the maker. If not, there are some companies that make general attachments, and they'll list what machines these will fit. Check online sewing supply houses for this kind of thing.

You can also make one by hand. Any decent sewing book would tell you how. Usually you sew a straight stitch along the hem, using quite small stitches. Trim hem to a quarter inch from the stitch line. Crease the fabric or press it along the stitch line to the inside. Anchor your hand thread, then take a short stitch right along the stitch line. Next catch one thread of the fabric a quarter inch above the stitch line. It's just a basic running stitch, back and forth. Every few stitches, gently snug up the thread, which will roll the hem over. The finer the fabric, the smaller the stitches you take where they'll show should be.

There are some images that will help, if you enter the following search terms in google, you will see several pictures. Type the words," Illustrations for how to make a rolled hem by hand ? " and you will get a load of ideas.

Hi :) Just got a Hobbylock 788 and need to thread

Here is the trick: If you look at your thread spools, left to right, thread machine beginning with thread from spool 3, then 4, then 1, then 2.

Thread 4 is tricky. You must line up the purple line on the big wheel on the right end in order to do this. Thread the machine according to the diagram on the inside, then, making sure you lined up the purple line, push the lever at the bottom of the machine (below threading guides) to the left while holding on to the thread end. This will push the thread up and along the horizontal arm you just threaded.

Can't re-attach the stitch finger when done with rolled hemming. How do you put it back into place?

Open the front cover and working table (the door that is on the left side). On the side of the needle plate is a ****. Line your stitch finger up so that its flat side is towards the machine. On the inside of that ****, there's a little bracket to hold the stitch finger secure--it slides into that. Good luck! it took me hours to figure this out the first time! There's a yahoo group for White model sergers---they are excellent resources, too.

Can't reinsert bobbin holder

You may not have the bobbin case seated properly in the bobbin well. Make sure the flat edges go underneath the metal flanges that are there to hold it in. I'm attaching photos of a similar problem I answered earlier that might help you understand how it goes in.

Below are the directions I sent with the photos...I hope this helps you! Good luck!

"This type of case can be a pain. First in photo 1, on the silver flange marked in a red circle there is a rectangular hole marked with a green circle. using a flat head screwdriver, insert into the rectangle and turn to the right. This should move the flange tongue marked with a blue circle towards the back white wall of the bobbing well. In Photo 2 take the black bobbin case and place in the bobbin well area marked with the pink spiral. Tilt the case slightly to insert the flat tongue marked with an orange X on the black bobbin case under the flange marked with an orange X in the bobbin well. Now let the black bobbin case sit in the bobbin well marked with the pink spiral. Now in Photo 3, you want to turn the black bobbin case to the right so the flat tongue marked with the orange X will go underneath the flange marked with an orange X. The other flat area marked with a purple X on the black bobbin case should line up with the purple X in the bobbin well. Once the black bobbin case is seated in, repeat the steps from Photo 1 in reverse to get the silver flange back over the bobbin case to hold it in place. I hope you can understand my directions and I hope this helps! Good Luck!"

Cording foot

a quilting bar attaches to one of the feet usually in the back and is attached by a little set screw. it is used as a guide to ride a long a previous line of stitching or a design to keep lines of stitches the same distance apart.
I'm familiar with 2 different types of cording feet. one looks like a zipper foot... very narrow and a notch on the side of the foot instead in the middle. to make cording ...fold a narrow piece of fabric in half and place yarn or cord along the inside of the fold.next place folded fabric with yarn inside under presser foot. but up the foot next to the yarn bump on the top side of folded fabric and stitch as close as possible. the second kind has a groove on the underside of the foot and the yarn bump follows this groove stitching is also done close to the yarn. some concideration in needle placement is needed depending on the thickness of the yarn or cord. always hand turn the needle up down the first few stitches to make sure the needle does not hit the foot.adjust if needed.
