Hello! There is no other part that goes on the motor shaft after the belt is put on. The tension of the belt keeps the belt from slipping off. If you have a brand new belt that keeps slipping off you may not have the correct belt for the vacuum. Be sure you replace with a genuine Dirt Devil belt and the specified belt style for your particular unit. Hope this helps! The power steering pump pulley must be flushed with the power steering pump shaft,Or else you will have noise or slips right off.

Are you referring to the timing belt or serpentine drive belt which works your alternator, power steering pump, etc? Will need to know specific engine details in either case and please clarify exactly what you are perfoming. Thanks, Mike

if it really is the walking belt that is slipping keep tightening the adjustment screws till the belt will not slip when you try to stop it ( set speed to about 3 and then with your foot try to stop belt from spinning - you should be able to make the motor and whole machine come to a stop ) make sure it is really walk belt spinning and it isnt the motor belt slipping. (if it is motor belt slipping when you try to do the stop the belt trick i just described you will see the walk belt and front roller stop but still hear the motor turning) once you get walk belt tight enough so it doesnt slip then you can worry about keeping the belt centered.

SOUND LIKE A BAD BELT TENSIONER OR YOU HAVE WRONG SIZE BELT.

If the belt keeps slipping off the you need to replace the tensioner(its the pulley you have to move to get the belt on and off,and that part should be inexpensive to replace from any parts store.

Check and see if the pulleys are shiny looking, also are the batteries low on charge, if you have more than one battery the load on the alt is huge, add in a low or bad set of batteries and then the belt can deliver enough power to spin the alternator, and it slips. Worked on motorhomes for year's, saw this allot.

The first thing i would do is try playing with the belt tensioner. it sounds like the belt is lose and when the engine warms up the belt starts to expand and slips off.
