This started about a month ago. I reviewed several YouTube videos on replacing the capacitors. I changed the 6 larger capacitors and that worked for about a week. Then it started again. Now when I turn the tv on, first the red light flashes for a minute or two with a black screen. Then the tv will attempt to start but the screen is only gray for about 15-20 seconds and then cycles again. When I connect a video source (ROKU) after several minutes the ROKU logo will appear and I can got to my home screen; the tv then functions. It won't do that when I connect the receiver for Direct Tv, it just keeps cycling off and on. Once I have watched ROKU programs for 30 minutes or so, I switch to the receiver and then it works. Once the tv has been turned off it reverts back to the original problem
Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Testimonial: "I'm unclear on which board you are recommending to replace. Would that be the "power supply board" where the 120 volt line connects or the "main board" where the HDMI, Component and audio connection points are located. Thank you."
