My Samsung LCD TV backlights will not stay on during rain or high humidity. Works perfectly otherwise. What could be the problem?

Paper curling, wrinkling, at bottom of page is definitely caused by high humidity. When weather returns to dryer atmosphere, printer returns to normal state. I live in Sydney, and we get days of continuous rain sometimes in Summer. Humidity is very high. The paper absorbs moisture from the air and is easily deformed by the rollers in the printer.
The solution is to dry the paper and reduce the humidity. After a day or so at 50% humidity, the paper returns to normal and will print correctly.

Check for any loose soder points or loose connections with wiring sockets to backlight inverter board.

Your Samsung tV is LCD type. It has no bulb to replace as in DLP projection televisions. there is CCFL [Cold Cathode Flourocent Lamps] are the lighting devices, which are fitted just behind the LCD screen There will be more than 12 numbers of them, accroding to screen size. If these lamps do not light up; that is; if you do not get any backlight with your LCD TV, the backlight inverter board should be troubleshooted. This is the board that supplies high frequency high voltage to these lamps to light up. Check this inverter baord first. Repalcing backlight CCFL lamps is really a skilled work, as they are fitted inside the panel, and to replace them, you have to disassable the panel itself.

I had EXACTLY PRECISELY the same problem. took the back off and noticed the connected on the back, top and center near the upper upper of the unit, was not connected securely. you can see it in the top center of this photo, the blue and white wires go into it. mine were a different color but otherwise the setup is the same. http://i.imgur.com/VP6Kk.jpg

It was slightly ajar on one side. I pulled it back, set it up squarely and refastened it and turned the tv on. imagine my surprise when it worked perfectly. tv has been on for hours and seems to be working just right.

Unplug it, otherwise more damage will be done to other circuits. It has bad power supply due to bad caps, replace them in a set with the correct type.

You might have either a faulty LCD cable or screen inverter board.
The LCD cable transfers data signal from the motherboard & video card to the LCD screen. It also supplies high voltage DC power to the screen inverter board. The screen inverter board works as a power supply for the backlight lamp mounted inside the LCD screen. It converts low voltage DC power to high voltage AC power needed for the backlight lamp.

If the screen is cracked, it will cost more that what the TV is worth. Are you just getting black screen but still have sound? Otherwise it can be the backlight inverter board is bad or it is not getting power from the main power supply section.

While this is not a permanent solution, we've fond it helps... We have a Samsung LCD that does not turn on when there is too much humidity in the room. This only happens in the summer when it gets really humid. We moved our dehumidifier next to it, let it run for around 15 minutes and the TV turned on again, no problem. Lately, it's been raining alot so it's very humid. We've gotten into the habit of leaving our dehumidifier on through the night on low and we've had not issues turning on the tv since then. This is a hastle but it's either that or buying a new tv.
