When turning phone on it shows lg symbol then battery picture then screen goes black as if it has turned off. Have removed battery and put back. Held volume button in down position and power button at same time and even slapped it a couple of times. LOL.. no response to that either just same lg symbol and battery pic. Without power cord it won't even come on and show that much.

My daughter is now going through two replacements for the screen going blank on this model. I'm still having to pay a deductible for a phone that was replaced the first time for the same problem this time. Evidently this is a common problem with this phone.

Mine started doing the same thing yesterday. In doing a bit of research I found on the LG support forums that the phone is probably fried. The good news is that it's covered under the 1 year manufacturers warrenty and can be returned to the sprint store, or your carrier and they will replace it on site. I've already talked to Sprint and they said as long as there's no water damage or other visable signs of shock that would have caused the damage that they'll provide me with a new phone. This was a huge relief to me, I loved this phone before it went batty and really can't afford a new one.
Hope it works out for you as well.
SOURCE: My LG VU Screen has faded to black
My touch screen had recently stopped working so my mother had to take the phone apart using very detailed instructions found on the internet. She was able to replace the screen and hook everything back up. But not even 24 hours later my phone screen went completely blank like yours. Using the same directions as earlier, she opened up the phone to see that some of the parts had come undone and she quickly and easily fixed it and it is back to good. Here is a link to directions of how to open up your phone and to check that everything is connected. Hope it helps!!!
