542 error comes when a problem in heater .1:terrmistors dirty or defect.must check and clean that .2:termostats maybe cut .check that.if that is cut no change because that is expensive.must cool that for along time in freezer .(about 120minutes)usually that rapier by this .4:check your heater lamp.5:check heater control board.
RESET; press c key (usually yello key)--inter107 by numeral keys--press and hold stop key(usually red key)for3 second .then off power key and on .

What is error code sc542
I found some information on this error at http://www.fortc.com/2007/06/17/ricoh-cl4000dn-error-code-sc542/

According to this website, the error code is due to a fuser temperature problem.

The Fix
In order to clear error SC542 follow these steps:

- Press and hold online + escape, then power on.
- Use up and down arrow keys to select SP2
- Press Enter
- Use up and down arror to locate SP5
- Press Enter
- Use up and down arrow keys to select 810
- Press Enter
- Confirm the selection
- Power off and on.

Error code sc542 on ricoh spc222sf?????????????????
Press the red CLEAR/STOP key till you hear the little beep. Press 1 0 7 Press the green COLOR START key. The display changes into MAINTENANCE MODE Use arrow keys to go to ENGINE MAINTENANCE and hit Ok Use the arrow keys and select FUSER SC RESET and hit Ok Hit OK again at the Execute prompt.
Once it is done executing the reset, power the unit off and on.
If the error comes back again, it is likely a real hardware problem and you may need to replace some components.

SC542 means that the thermistor hasn't detected right temperature in given time.

Often you only have to reset service code.




Try this reset:
  • Press and hold online + escape, then power on.
  • Use up and down arrow keys to select SP2
  • Press Enter
  • Use up and down arror to locate SP5
  • Press Enter
  • Use up and down arrow keys to select 810
  • Press Enter
  • Confirm the selection
  • Power off and on.

The fusing temperature does not reach
the standby temperature within 20
seconds after the main switch is turned
on.
• Fusing thermistor defective or out of
position
• Fusing lamp open
• Fusing thermostat open
• Power supply board defective
• Poor connection of the fusing unit

It could need a new thermistor
