First find an external monitor to test if its the screen on your laptop or the graphics chip in your laptop. If you have an external monitor then hook it up to your laptop and toggle the video over to see if you still see the spot.If it only shows on the laptop screen the Replace the screen.

Click the windows button type, services.msc and press enter.
Find "Diagnostic Policy Service" and highlight it. Make sure it is started. Start it if it isn't.

Think about this for a min.

The Primary hard disk cannot be found by the System.
The Diagnostic Utility is ON the Primary hard disk.....OF COURSE IT WON'T FIND IT...

Since the motherboard is not able to even detect the drive as being present, there is nothing YOU can do to get it 'going' unless you replace the BAD hard drive with a new one.

What Diagnostics? Is this before the system completes the boot process or is this after windows has booted up and the desktop with icons appears?

I think you have bad memory. Try to press and hold F8 button while booting windows And run windos memory diagnostic
