This sounds like Handset #1 has lost its "registration" with
the base. De-registering & re-registering is often easy.

First, be sure the handset battery is well charged as a
weak battery will interfere with the registration process.
Then try this ( 'works for the D1680, D1481, & similar):

To deregister the handset:

1. Press and hold the [END] and [ # ] keys at the same time,
after a few seconds the display will say
"System Reset, Deregister Handset"
press [SELECT]
scroll to "Base Unavailable"
press [SELECT] (chirps) press [END]
display reads "Place in base..."

Next, to re-register the handset:

2. Set the handset into the base cradle and wait,
within ~30 seconds the handset should display
a "Handset #" and be good to go.

Good luck!

This sounds like the register-deregister problem elsewhere on this page. Try holding down the "end" and "#" buttons for about 6 seconds to deregister the phones and then reregister them. I had this problem too and it worked for me.

SOURCE: handset does not work

Your handset is no longer communicating with your base. Depending on your model, the solutions can be a couple of different options. If I could view pdf files on this computer I would look it up for you. But here is the link to the manual on Unidens website- http://www.uniden.com/pdf/TRU8865-2om.pdf

Nonetheless, give this a try. Power down your base, and pull the battery out of your handset. Plug the battery back in the handset and set the bad handset in the base cradle, and then power up the base. Wait about 30 seconds, then give the phone a try. If it still does not work, then you need to try to "re-register" the bad handset back to the base. Look in the manual under "registration" procedures. Hope my help fixes it for you. Good Luck, CG

SOURCE: out of range shows on main handset of cordless phone

Unplug the battery. Hold down The * (star) and the #(hash) keys simultaneously. Re-connect the battery, phone will beep and screen will be blank. Press the voicemail (righthand silver key under the lcd screen). As above EEPROM/RAM message will appear. Place handset on base and your problem is solved.

SOURCE: No dial tone on handset

It may not be registed with the main unit. You may need to register the handset. With my uniden all i have to do is put it in the main base until it says what handset it is (it should be a number).

D1780 with blank screen

Suggest you reset handset and register again with base.

Instructions from manual...
Resetting Handsets If you have trouble with a handset or if you want to replace one, clear the registration information from the base and the handset: 1. Press & hold END and # at the same time until you see the System Reset menu. 2.If you still have the base the handset is registered to, select Deregister HS, then select the handset you want to reset. If you don't have that base anymore, select Base Unavailable. 3. To confirm, select Yes. The handset displays Handset not registered. Registering Handsets If you see a "not registered" message on a handset, you must register it to a base before using it. 1. Place the handset in the base; the display should say Handset Registering. 2.Wait until the display says Registration Complete (about 30 seconds), then pick up the handset and press TALK/FLASH. 3.If you don't hear a dial tone or the display says Registration Failed, charge the battery completely, then try again.

Hi, Bruce Kelly I have a Uniden DECT1480-3 That the screens on all hand set's say's SEARCHING. I can not get a dial tone so I am unable to make a call or recieve a call. Their is no dial tone and all of...

All of the handsets appear to have lost their
registration to the base and will need to
be first de-registered then re-registered.
It may be necessary to do this in three stages.
First be sure that all of the handset batteries
are fully charged.
1.
Clear one of the handsets of its registration:
hold down both the [END] and [#] keys
at the same time until the display shows the
SYSTEM RESET menu.
Since the handset is not recognized by its
base, select "Base Not Available".
Confirm the choice by selecting "Yes".
This handset will now display
"Handset Not Registered"
--
2.
With "...Not Registered" displayed, place
the handset into the base unit cradle.
The handset should now dieplay
"Handset Registering"
After ~30 seconds the display should show
"Registration Complete" and will have a
handset unit number.
If the unit shows "Handset 1" (doubtful)
then just repeat steps 1 & 2 above for each
additional handset in turn. This can also be
the route if you do not care what the numbers
are and do not exceed the maximum count
for your system ( some are 4, 5, or even 12 ).
If the handset is a number other than 1 you
may want to clear the base & re-register
all of the handsets:
3.
Using the now-registered and working handset
(number x), press both the [END] and [#] keys at the same time until the display shows the
SYSTEM RESET menu.
This time, choose "Deregister HS" and the
System Reset Menu will prompt you to
select from the list of registered handsets
which one you want to deregister: choose
one that is NOT the one you have working.
Cycle around deleting them all until only the
one that is working is left: select that one and
the system will be ready to start re-registering
all handsets again from Handset #1.
Start at process (1) above, then (2).
Good Luck!!

My vtech dect 6.0 keeps saying unable to call try again

I had this happen suddenly on 2 out of 3 handsets with a DS6151 base and DS6101 handsets. Well, what happened is there was no dial tone on either of the 2 handsets on either of the 2 lines and a message appeared on the display "Unable to Call Try Again" after some delay, if Line1 or Line2 button was pressed.

Oddly, the 2 that did not work were the ones normally on "extension" chargers and the 1 that did work was the one on the base unit. That caused me to suspect the base unit .. which it still may have been but the solution was NOT. And, also odd, the handsets seemed to still be synched with the base unit in many respects.

Cycling the power on the base unit did nothing.
These are fairly new units and battery life is generally much longer in my experience.

The Solution:
- Remove the battery from the handset that doesn't work properly.
- Re-install the same battery.
Whatever was wrong, this reset it and the handsets started working again.
Easy fix.

My Uniden 1560-3 has out of range on all handsets but one. I only have a dial tone on one handset. Please advise how I can correct this problem

Reset the hand sets that are out of range by doing the following:

1) Press and hold END and # for at least five seconds.
2) Move the cursor to select Base Unavailable and then press Menu/Select.
3) Select the base which you want to de-register from, and then press Menu/Select. Base Unavailable appears.
4) Move the cursor to select Yes, and then press Menu/Select. You hear a confirmation tone,

(For DCX150 handsets)
5) Place the handset in the base cradle for about thirty seconds. Handset Registering will appear in the LCD.
6) When the handset has registered to the base, the LCD will display Registration complete then show the handset
ID number.
If the display shows Registration failed, repeat the process again.

(For DCX200 or DCX300 handsets)
5)Disconnect the base AC adapter. Then press and hold find while you reconnect the adapter. Keep holding
find until the charge LED starts to blink.
6)When charged, registered handsets display a handset ID number. Handsets that have not been registered display:
7) On the handset, press and hold # until the handset beeps and displays Handset Registering.
8) When the handset has registered to the base, the LCD will display Registration complete then show the handset
ID number.
If the display shows Registration failed, repeat the process again.

Can not rec a dial tone, phone states no link to base move closer

If “No link to base. Move closer to base, try again.” is displayed
even when using the handset near the base unit, the handset may have lost communication with the base unit. You need to re-register the handset to the base unit.
• Make sure the base unit is not being used.
• Have both handsets and base unit nearby during registration.
• Follow steps 1–3 listed below. You have about 1 minute to complete them.
• Confirm the extension number of the handset which has lost the communication by placing the handset on the base unit or charger.
If you re-register the handset using the other handset’s extension number, the other handset will not function.
• If the handset beeps 3 times and “Error!!” is displayed, an error occurred. Try again from step 1.
• You can stop registration by pressing [OFF] on the handset, and pressing [LOCATOR/INTERCOM] on the base unit.

1 Base unit: Press and hold [LOCATOR/INTERCOM] until a beep sounds.
• The CHARGE indicator flashes.

2 Base unit: Press the extension number [1] (handset symbol 1 ) or [2] (handset symbol 2) of the
handset which has lost the communication.

3 Handset: Press and hold [FLASH/CALL WAIT] until “Handset Registering” is displayed.
• When registration is complete, a beep sounds from the handset and the display shows the number.
• Wait for 20 seconds after registration is complete while the handset establishes communication with the base unit.

• If the handset beeps 3 times and “Error!!” is displayed, an error occurred. Try again from step 1.
• You can stop registration by pressing [OFF] on the handset, and pressing [LOCATOR/INTERCOM] on the base unit.

Uniden 1725 no dial tone

I had the same problem as long as they are plugged in correctly and you put the #2 handset into the #1 cradle to register it to your base then try hanging the phone up several times. These are expandable phones so that I believe you can keep adding other handsets. So sometimes they think you have a few more handsets than you really have so when you hang up it may not know what handset you are hanging up #1 #2 or #3 #4 etc. So I had to keep hanging them up until it finally hung up. Then I had to re install them so it knew I only had 2 hand sets. So then you start from the beginning, like when you took it from the packaging. I hate these phones. I ended up replacing them with different ones. Plus I always keep a rotery phone laying around put away because during a power outage you still can plug in an old dial phone and it will work! Nothing like old technology.

Handset Won't Connect to Base Station

Here's is the fix, I just had the same problem.

I have 2 handsets here and just had replaced in 1 of the handsets.

Here's the trick, make sure the correct handset is in the correct base. The way this is done is when one of the handsets are in their bases, they will show either HS1 or HS2 in the upper right hand part of the display.

When they are in the correct base, then go push the Find HS button on the main base and you will hear the page feature paging the other base.

When the 2nd handset starts beeping just push the Find HS button again and other handset should work.

After that it don't matter which handset is in which base.

Let me know if this works for you.

Thanks,
Brian

5. Enter and registration starts. When the handset beeps and returns to standby registration is complete.
