Hold down F8 when it powers up. May need to remove battery and power cord. New windows 8 and probably windows 10 do not fully power down usually you have to hold shift key when shutting down windows from operating system. So it may not go into safe mode without it being shut down fully.

Wont go into safe mode

->Turn on your computer and press the F8 key repeatedly from your keyboard. You must press F8 before the Windows logo appears. It will display the Advanced Boot Options screen.
->From Advanced Boot Options screen, choose Safe Mode option then press Enter.

Lenovo stuck on loading page, and wont enter safe mode

Restart your computer
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or F2 key
this will vary depending on your computer and operating system

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

Resetting password & user name on Windows: b>*Start your computer
*Keep pressing "F8" as the computer starts.
*This will enter the computer in Safe Mode.

Start you're computer on safe mode an run you're antivirus

Using the F8 Method:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the computer starts you will see your computer's hardware being listed. When you see this information start to gently tap the F8 key on your keyboard repeatedly until you are presented with the Windows 7 Advanced Boot Options screen as shown in the image below.

  3. Using the arrow keys, select the Safe Mode option you want.
  4. Then press the enter key on your keyboard to boot into Windows 7 Safe Mode.
  5. When Windows starts you will be at a typical logon screen. Logon to your computer and Windows 7 will enter Safe mode.
  6. Do whatever tasks you require, and when you are done, reboot to go back into normal mode.

How do I put my HP computer in safe mode.

Just after post(the computer boots up) and just before you see windows booting press F8, it will bring up a blck page with different selection options to boot your pc, use the arrow keys to go to the top of the page where it says safe mode and hit enter,, the computer should now boot to windows in save mode. hope this helps.

Wont boot up says a disk read error occurred. press ctrl alt del to restart. i do this and the same message comes up

Hello,

your operating system files is corrupt, that's why your computer is showing you that message.Your computer cannot but except the it is repaired.

To repair your windows, you will need the Cd that came with your computer, that's what you will be needing in other to repair your system.

Also, you can still boot your system by booting in safe mode. To boot in safe mode, restart your computer and immediately, keep pressing "F8" on your keyboard, a black screen will come up and you will see a booting option, scroll to safe mode and press enter.

Once your system boots up in safe mode, you can restart your system and the problem might be solved.

MAY BE DUE TO LOT OF VIRUSES. DISMOUNT YOUR HARDDISK FROM YOUR SYSTEM AND SCAN IT FOR VIRUSES IN ANOTHER SYSTEM WHICH HAS THE LATEST UPDATE OF A POWERFULL ANTIVIRUS SUCH AS KASPERSKY....

then go to start menu run type in run "chkdsk /r"
then press "y"
then restart computer then it fix error on harddisk.
