My dishwasher is leaking from the bottom of the front door. I can't seem to get to the drain filter. Can that be removed? I think there may be a clog in it.

If your dishwasher is Leaking check the following

Dishwasher Not Leveled

This is a very common reason for a leaking dishwasher especially if this was a new installation. The framing in a dishwasher is made up of mostly thin sheet metal, so if it is not sitting flat and level things can get distorted very easily.

Door Seal

This is not very common in most dishwashers. To check this look for rips and distortion of the seal. If it is ripped or distorted you will need to replace.

Dispenser Seal

This is a more common place for a leak to develop. This is easy to check, remove the front panel and carefully inspect around the seal for water dripping or stainage. If any is found replace the dispensergasket.

Water Inlet Valve

Usually it is the connection to the water inlet valve that ends up leaking. Check this connection ( there is usually some sort of adaptor between the valve and supply hose) for leaks. Check the connection on the back of the water inlet valve also. Ocassionaly a water inlet valve will leak around the solenoid in this case reokace inlet valve

Drain / Circulating Pump

Some dishwashers have separate drain and circulating pump. Some use one pump to serve both purposes. In either case you will need to check the housings for leaks along with all the connections. Some dishwashers have a seal that leaks down into the pump . This is easy and inexpensive to replace.

Door Latch

The door latch can become loose or misalinged. Check both the striker and the latch. To adjust the latch you will need to remove the front panel and adjust switch until properly aligned.

Door Hinges

They can cause problems, but this usually only happens from opening a heavy load of dishes on the door. Occassionaly a broken spring or cable occurs. You will need to remove the toe kick and maybe the front panel to inspect.Use the VOM. God bless you

Please check if the leak is from the bottom , If so the drain has clogged and so you will need to remove and clean the drain pump/valve , Check if there is no leak from the front door or the door gasket is faulty.

Tightening the fittings
1 Remove the service panel that runs along the front of the dishwasher just below the door. If it is screwed in place, remove the screws with a screwdriver. If the panel hangs on hooks, pull the panel out and swing it up to remove it from the hooks.
2 Check the end of the drain hose that connects to the dishwasher. If it's leaking, tighten the clamp with a screwdriver.
3 Check the drain hose connection to the kitchen sink drain. Again, if it's leaking, tighten the clamp with a screwdriver.
4 Check for leaks around the water-inlet valve. If necessary, use an adjustable wrench to tighten the compression fitting that connects the water-supply line to the valve. If the fill hose is leaking, replace the spring clamp that is on the hose with a worm-drive hose clamp. It produces more clamping pressure. Use adjustable pliers to compress the spring clamp so you can pull the clamp and hose off the valve. Remove the spring clamp from the hose. Buy a worm-drive clamp at your hardware store, then install it and tighten it with a screwdriver.

Leveling the machine
1 Remove the front access panel (see step 1, "Tightening the fittings"). This will give you access to the dishwasher's adjustable feet.
2 Open the door completely and remove the bottom dish rack.
3 Unscrew the dishwasher from the kitchen countertop so the dishwasher can move freely as you adjust the feet.
4 Check to see if the dishwasher is level side to side. Place a small level inside the dishwasher so it's sitting on the bottom pan and facing parallel to the front lip of the dishwasher. If the dishwasher is not level, use adjustable pliers to turn one of the dishwasher's front feet up or down until you hit level.
5 Check to see if the dishwasher is level front to back. Turn the level perpendicular to the door, and place it on one of the bottom ledges that run along the side of the cabinet. Check the level again. If the dishwasher isn't level, use your adjustable pliers to turn the back feet up or down until you hit level.
6 Reattach the dishwasher to the countertop and reinstall the front access panel.

Fixing a leaking door
1 Inspect the door gasket. As it ages, the gasket can crack or become hard, preventing it from sealing completely.
2 If the gasket appears solid, adjust the door latch so the door seals tightly. Loosen the screw that holds the door latch to the cabinet. Push the latch in slightly and retighten the screw. Test the door and readjust the latch if necessary.
3 Replace the gasket if water continues to leak after you've tightened the latch. Most gaskets are held by compression in a groove on the door or on the dishwasher cabinet.
4 Pull the old gasket out of its groove, using adjustable pliers (see illustration). Take the gasket to an appliance store to get a replacement.
5 Soak the new gasket in warm water to soften it, then press it into the groove. Start at the top, then work your way down the sides and across the bottom.

You most likly need a new bottom door seal. Usually 3 screws down each side of the door and then two screws hold the bottom door seal in place. The bottm door seal can look fine but if its leaking out the bottom front this is the problem 99 % of the time, Unless someone is using dish soap to preclean the dishes or using regular in the dishwasher.

I think you most likely have a basin Float water level sensor that is no working correctly, the door seal is not water proof, if the water level gets over the lip of the basin it will leak on the floor.

ck the float it may be comming under the door . if water is still in tank after cycle / clean the screen in the bottom it is a lift out basket . ck for resstriction in drain line . all of thes will cause over fill and flooding . your model may have a pressure sw . sometimes food gets in the air line / remove tube and blow out .. mm

Remove the lower spray arms and the filter assembly beneath it. Rinse out everything you remove in the sink as needed.
With a flashlight, inspect the sump area down there and remove anything lodged in the drain area. Reassemble and run a short load, watching it closely for leaks from the front.
If problems persist, there are two possible problems:
a.) The float or float microswitch is not working properly.
b) the hot water inlet valve (selonoid valve) is opening but not always closing properly.

take bottom front panel off to expose bottom tray and you will probably find it full of water. disconnect from electricity and mop water out and machine should work. if fault reoccurs then you have a leak

Are you washing cereal bowls or mixing bowls on the bottom rack? If so, are you placing them in front? Sudden leaks that form huge puddles can often be attributed to improper loading of the dishwasher. Most dishwashers don't have a seal across the tub front. The door closes over it and does a pretty good job of deflecting water back inside the wash cavity. However, if you place bowls in the front on the bottom rack rack they can divert the water right over the tub lip and onto the floor. This is usually the culprit that causes most leaks in dishwashers. Now, if you don't think you have a loading problem, remove the kick panel on the bottom of the dishwasher and check the drain line and pump housing for leaks. Check the door gasket for tears or cracks. Lastly, feel inside the bottom of the door with your hand. You should be able to feel the door insulation. If it is wet, then the problem could be a leak around your soap or rinse-aid dispenser. Depending on the model, some dispensers are mounted to the door with a gasket behind it. Sometimes this gasket can form leaks. I hope this helps.

I had the same problem with my machine - ie lots of water coming out front about two thirds of the way through the cycle - engineer (local and very reliable) knew as soon as he came in that I had started bying Powerball 5 dishwasher tablets - they produce too much foam (try opening the door during the cycle and see the amount of foam) and it therefore comes out of the overflow parts on the door. I tried Magnum 5 and got the same problem. Now I stick to either Asda's own basic (not the 5) or I buy the Magnum ones and cut them in half. Has never leaked since!
