The router most likely set to only allow broadcast to G/N cards only. Although you have the proper key in the netbook if its a B card the router will not allow it to talk. Go in the routers back-web setting menu on the pc you can get online with. Most routers unless changed you will type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 in your internet browser. It will bring up a box that ask for user name and password. User name generally admin password generally password from factory sometimes linksys will use linksys as the user however look that up on there website. Once you are in there go to your wireless settings and set it to "neighbor friendly B/G/N" click save then get out and try your netbook again. If this does not work go back in there again and drop your wireless encryption to WEP128 you will need change the wireless key when you do this just your cell number as the key no spaces 5551234567 like that

do you have an internal wireless adapter? Is the switch switched to on? Are you close enough to the wireless router. Do you have the right security code selected for connection to router? I would try resetting router and modem if the above is not the problem.
I think you are trying to install the router using the CD. But you can install the router without the CD also. If you connect the computer to the modem , does it works ? If it works then modem is working. now connect the computer and modem to the router. open the set up page of the router. change the Internet settings according to the ISP. Click Here for more information about router and networks.
If your running xp, make sure the netowrk card is not disabled, make sure you rnot using a cross over cable. use the cable you got with the routers. Try reinstalling the network card, goto dell support andenter you model to get the drivers.
