Unplug the unit. Take it apart until you get to where the cord is attached inside the unit. Install new cord and you are set. If it is just the plug that is bad then you can just replace that as well.

Is it a soldering connection?
I'll post a photo. The handle pulled completely out of the base. I can put the handle in the base but the connector won't engage and there isn't enough play in electrical cord to pull it out to reattach.

The change of the cord and connector should be done by a repair shop for a safe and efficient operation.
Not really what I wanted to hear, but thanks for your honesty. This fix is not for the faint of heart.
