Check your heating element to see if it is shorted to ground.
The element has 110V to it all the time, so if the element shorts to ground it will heat all the time. This is a fairly common failure.

If the element is ok, you may have a stuck centrifigul switch inside the motor, this is very rare but does happen sometimes.

Post back to let me know what you find or if you have any questions.
Thanks/Mike

Kenmore 15892100 dishwasher. Could a vent actuator blown the thermal cut out fuse?

A thermal fuse is a safety device for high amperes due to high temp and it will cut out when a short circuit applied and the moisture is one of a short circuit.

I have a Kenmore Series 70 Dryer and I changed the thermal fuse got hot for a few minutes the model #110.74722400

The cycling thermostat must also be replaced when replacing the thermal fuse. The cycling thermostat's failure to cycle off the heating element results in overheating of the dryer which consequently blows the thermal fuse open.

Replacing only the thermal fuse should the dryer stops running and fails to start will result in its premature blowing or even the thermal cut-out (cut-off) located on the heater duct. Like the cycling thermostat, the high-limit thermostat must also be replaced once the thermal cut-out blows open. Refer to the parts diagram in the link below and look for item numbers 31(thermal cut-off), 34(hi-limit thermostat), 39(thermal fuse), and 41(cycling thermostat.

Sensor light comes on when you push the start button but does not start spinning

This is a problem commonly caused by a blown thermal fuse due to a faulty thermistor or cycling thermostat depending on the model of the dryer. The thermal fuse is located on the blower housing and wired in series with the motor. The motor cannot therefore run when the thermal fuse blows open and no dryer functions works.

Unplug the dryer then remove the bottom panel and the lint duct and check continuity of the thermal fuse. You can also bypass the thermal fuse for troubleshooting purposes. Check for blocked lint filter and restricted vent system if the thermal fuse is indeed blown then replace it including the thermistor/cycling thermostat. Click on the link below for detailed troubleshooting of this common problem.

Dryer not working. Lights reads PF

Hi,

If your dryer is showing code PF, then a power failure interrupted the previous load from completing and you will need to restart the cycle. You will need to press and hold the "Start" button to restart. If the error message reads E1, E2 or E3, then there is a more serious problem and a technician will need called to resolve the problem.

Kenmore dryers come equipped with door switches. If the door is not closed entirely, the dryer will not start its cycle. If the other indicators seem in working order and the door is properly shut, the door switch may be faulty. On some models of Kenmore dryers, there is a warning light to indicate if the door is open. If the "Door Open" light is still lit when you have closed it and heard it click, you should look into replacing the door switch.

Another possibility is the thermal fuse. This fuse is usually found in the back panel near the exhaust duct. If the dryer overheats, the thermal fuse will blow, shutting down operation of the dryer until the fuse is replaced.

Check the wiring from the outlet. If you have recently had to convert from a four-prong wire to a three-prong wire, or vice versa, the connections to the dryer may be faulty. Make sure that the red and black wires are connected to the proper hot terminals, the green wire to a ground and, if present, a white wire to the neutral connection.

Thanks and have a nice day.

Whirlpooldryer LEN2000PW1 when you shut the door turn the dial you hear a clicking sound and doesnt tumble. Belts not broke and you can turn motor manuelly.

This is a symptom of a blown thermal fuse located on the blower housing. It is wired in series with the motor and therefore cuts power to the motor when it blows and results in the motor not running. No dryer function works when the motor is not running. Remove the rear access panel and locate the thermal fuse. Replace it if found blown open including the cycling thermostat. Kenmore dryer will not start

The problem with dryers not starting is usually a blown thermal fuse located on the blower housing. This thermal fuse blows open when the duct and/or lint filter is clogged or if the cycling thermostat/thermistor is faulty. Click on the link below for the detailed troubleshooting instructions but make sure first that the dryer is getting power.

Kenmore dishwasher 665.1603 no power stopped in middle of cycle and has no power.

That dishwasher has a thermal fuse that clips on the control board. The thermal fuse is a safety device, and nothing will run if it is blown. If there is no continuity through it, replace it. They run around $20-$30. If thats not it, remove the kick-plate and check the junction box for loose or fried wires where the wires are spliced together. Also check your house breaker box to make sure the breaker isn't tripped.

Dryer doesnt start, 600 series kenmore

Q - My dryer is dead, what could do that ?
A - Common problems...blown house fuse/tripped breaker ( electric dryers need 2 )...loose white/neutral wire...broken belt ( on some models only )...door switch/door switch bracket...*thermal fuse open ( venting needs attention )...broken or burnt wire...timer...motor...burnt power cord/plug...start switch ( especially the ones with a built in relay switch )
* If you find a blown thermal fuse, always clean, change, adjust the venting system and vent hood first, then it is sometimes a good idea to replace the operating thermostat at the same time. This is a picture of -some- modern thermal fuses.
It doesn't work at all If your dryer doesn't work at all, it could be because of problems with:

Power from the house
Door switch
Thermal fuse
Wiring
Power from the house Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? If you plug something else into the outlet, does it work? If not, check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.

Door switch If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch.

Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse is about an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing.

If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to inspect the venting/heating system before replacing the fuse to put the dryer back into operation. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)

Wiring Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. In this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.

Dryer won't stay on.

tc7059d4.jpg9729365.jpg3403fe5.jpgThe wiring diagram for your dryer is shown in the first image below. A thermal fuse is normally in the circuit to the igniter on many gas dryers. I recommend checking this fuse. On dryer model 11073032102, you can access this fuse by _unplugging the dryer, shutting off the gas supply,_ and removing the bottom front service panel as shown in the second image below. On some Kenmore dryers, you have to remove the back panel to access the thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is located on the blower housing . The third image shows the location and replacement procedure. To test the thermal fuse, remove at least one wire (with the dryer still unplugged) and measure the resistance across the leads of the fuse with a volt/ohm meter. You should measure near zero ohms (continuity). If you measure infinite resistance (open), then the thermal fuse is blown and will need to be replaced.NOTE: If the thermal fuse is blown, check the venting for your dryer. Restricted exhaust venting can cause the thermal fuse to blow.
