Easy way to install fuel line and primer bulb return line into gas tank

Chainsaw fuel lines are specialized hoses that either need to be replaced with TEFLON hoses of the same diameter, or the specialized rubber hoses that are resistant to gasoline and other chemicals. You should ask at a hardware store and make sure you get a hose that fits TIGHTLY into any holes on the gas tank, and also snugly fits over ant incoming metal or brass lines going into the carburetor.

The lines are usually a tight fit in the fuel tank. This prevents leaks. They must be pulled out of the tank (one at a time) then cut the new lines end in a "v" pattern, this will allow you to push the new line through the tank. Long needle nose pliers are needed too.

Cut the end of the hose off at a steep angle, push it into the hole in the tank, now use a pair of needle nose pliers through the fuel filler hole to grab the end and pull it through.

The holes in these gas tank are made to fit available fuel lines tightly enough to prevent the problems you are having. If yours is leaking either someone put on too small a fuel line or made the hole larger so it would be easier to put the fuel line in the tank. The only fix is to get the next size larger fuel line or replace the tank. You can try to seal the line with RTV or silicone but he gas will degrade it and it will leak again plus you'll have a harder time the next time the line has to be replaced.

Get a new line the same size and length of the old one. Get the filter out of the tank. If it is as I think, it has a barbed end that goes into the outlet hole. Take your new line, fit it onto the filter end and make sure it is all the way on. Take the other end of the line and cut a taper on the end. Thread the end through the tank, into the outlet hole and aissist it so your filter sticks through the tank hole. There was a ring on the outside of the tank, on the line. Take that ring and run the ring over the end of the tube up to the filter bottom. Make sure it goes all the way up to the bottom, and tight.Square off the end and slip it onto the carb...Good luck...Lee
