Hello Mike;
My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.
UNPLUG YOUR UNIT BEFORE STARTING ANY WORK!
Your defrost problem may be your control board but, that is not where I would start.
In answer to your question, your control board is in the top front of your freezer section. When changing the control board ground yourself by rubbing your hands on something steel. Static electricity will knock a control board out.

More likely your problem is your defrost heater. You check your defrost heater with a multi-meter. Set the meter to the lowest Ohm setting. Place one meter lead on one end of the heater connector and the other lead on the other end of the heater connector. If the meter reads '0' or OL or infinity the heater is bad. It should read something like 35 or greater Ohms.
Part number 12729128 - $47.00
When changing you defrost heater it is common practice to also change the Bi-metl-def.
Part number W10165425 - $26.00
Both of these components are located behind the back freezer wall.
This is a major task to change these components. Bottom freezers are not service friendly.
1.) Completely empty the freezer (Unplugged).
2.) Take off the freezer front door.
3.) Remove the ice maker assembly.
4.) With a screw driver pop off the thermostat cover plate in the back upper right.
5.) Unscrew the back cover.
6.) Remove the center air vent. This is held in with plastic tabs. with a screw driver pop up the center tab and the side tabs.
7.) Pull the back cover out. You will need to flex the cover to clear the side rails.
Unless you are really good with basic electrical and hand tools, I do not suggest you attempt this repair.
A local service company will charge you about $400.00 or more.
Hello Sandra, you usually always can locate the model number on the rear of the fridge, I'm not sure if you have looked their, but I'm sure you did if it's missing the only thing I can suggest I s you take several pictures of the Fridge front rear and inside so who ever is supplying the part can identify the model, I'm not sure if you have removed the main control panel if not then this is certainly the best option and take a picture of it as close as you can, the majority of all circuit boards have a code number to identify them tis would be your very best option, if as you say their is no code or model information on the rear of the fridge. I hope this is of some help to you.
Good luck on getting your part.
