There will be no button marked such. The auto scan is a procedure to follow. Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. One among it has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.

Search the site by type in the brand name of your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the Home page display" to see the set-up codes to your device, with different brand remote controls.

Try replacing batteries in remote, make sure that there is nothing in the way of the reader on the item that you want to change the channel on. Other wise you can get universal remotes that have a list of codes for different items, tv, dvd ect.

You should be able to get OTA (over the air broadcast) just make sure you have an antenna plugged in and that the tuner is set to AIR.

Setting the Tuner Mode
If you are using a device that is connected to the RF input, such
as an external antenna or cable TV connection, you must set the
tuner mode.
1. Press the MENU button on the remote. The on-screen menu is
displayed.
2. Use the Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight the
Settings icon and press OK. The Settings menu is displayed.
3. Highlight Tuner and press OK. The Tuner Mode menu is
displayed.
4. Highlight Antenna or Cable and press OK.
5. Press the EXIT button on the remote.
Scanning for Channels
Before the TV can detect and display channels and their
associated information, you must scan for channels. A channel
scan may also be necessary when the TV has been moved to an
area where different free-to-air broadcast television channels are
available.
1. From the Tuner Settings menu,
highlight Auto Channel Scan.
The auto channel scan begins.
2. Wait until the channel scan is
100% complete. Highlight Done
and press OK.
3. Press the EXIT button on the
remote.

How do you switch Orion tv back to freeview without the remote? Because I have lost the original remote

remotes.com will have a replacement remote. At least they should. You can check on ebay or amazon too. Otherwise google the model number of your freeview receiver AND remote And you should pop up with several options. If your TV doesn't have the buttons you need to switch over than you absolutely will need a new remote. AND as an FYI, not all universal remotes work with freeview so it's better to find one compatible with your specific device.

Wish you luck.

I cant make the freeview box work without the operating instructions

OK - please follow these instructions carefully to setup the Freeview box. If you get stuck at any point in the instructions - or anything I've said doesn't make sense or match what you can see - just post another message here and I'll deal with each problem as it arises.

1. Switch the TV and Freeview box to STANDBY. There should be a red light on the Freeview box;
2. Connect the aerial cable to the freeview box. Make sure you are connecting this to the correct socket. This should be labelled "RF IN", "IN" or "Aerial/Antenna". If you have connected to a socket marked "RF/TV OUT" or "TO TV" or something similar, it wont work;
3. Connect the SCART cable to Freeview box and the back of the TV;
4. Switch the TV on;
5. Switch the Freeview box on - you should get a green light on the front of the box;

Most TVs will automatically switch to the external input when a SCART device is switched on while the TV is already on. This is why you should switch the TV on first.

At this point you should be able to see the installation / setup screen for the Freeview box displayed on your TV. If you cannot see this:

A. Press the INPUT button once on your SAMSUNG remote control once. This is the button in the top-right corner of your remote control.
B. If you still cannot see the installation / setup screen, press the MENU or SETUP button on the remote control supplied with the Freeview box.

The instructions from this point forward will be different if you had to press the MENU / SETUP button on the Freeview remote before anything appeared on the TV screen. If this Freeview box has been used before the installation screen will not appear, but you will get at on-screen menu after pressing the MENU / SETUP button. If this happens, please let me know and I will provide alternative instructions for setup.

Assuming you have been able to access the installation screen, it should be easy enough to follow the instructions on screen from this point. Use the UP / DOWN / LEFT / RIGHT arrow keys on the Freeview remote to highlight the relevant options and then press OK / SELECT to choose that option.

I don't want to make this too complicated by providing alternative instructions for every possible scenario. Please run through the instructions above and make sure you are getting an installation screen or "menu/list" displayed on the TV. If you need further instructions from there, I will provide them in another message.

Good luck - I'll await your reply.

Regards,
BElectric

My Polaroid HDTV says no signal. What is going on.

  • Have you plugged in the arial?
  • Is it in the right socket?
  • Are you using an aerial cable extender/splitter?
  • Are you using a portable indoor aerial?
  • Does it have built in Freeview?
  • Have you plugged in an external Freeview box if necessary?
  • Have you scanned for channels through the Freeview box?
  • Are you in an area where the analogue signal has been turned off?
  • Have you subscribed to a cable or satellite provider?
  • Are you on the right TV source?
  1. check the back of the tv to see if the aerial is plugged in.
  2. check the back of the tv to see if the aerial is plugged in correctly.
  3. If you are using an aerial cable extender or splitter, make sure all parts are connected all the way up to the aerial.
  4. If you're using a portable indoor aerial you might not be able to get enough signal to produce a picture. Also the aerial might need to be switched on, plugged in or need batteries.
  5. If the TV has Freeview built-in then you will need to scan for channels before you will get a picture. refur to you're TV's manual.
  6. Make sure, if you have got an external Freeview box that it is plugged in and switched on at the wall. Also make sure that it is connected to the TV either by a scart lead or by HDMI cable.
  7. Typically there will be a button on the remote called menu. From the menu screen choose setup. Then choose auto scan. Follow any on-screen instructions. Always refur to the TV's manual to avoid confusion and frustration.
  8. If you are in an area where they have switched off the analogue signal you will need to buy a Freeview box or subscribe to a cable or satellite provider. Freeview is cheep and is a one off payment ( best for people who will only really watch channels 1-5)
  9. Ring up your providers tech support.
  10. To change what input you are viewing, there will normally be a button called source on the remote. If you have connected a Freeview or cable/satalite box to the tv with a scart lead then select scart. If you used a HDMI lead then select HDMI. (There may be more than one of theses sockets so check behind the TV first. They usually have names or numbers by the side) refur to you're TV manual for help.
That is every problem i can think of. If it still doesnt work, take it back to the shop.
Hope this helps.

Press RIGHT button again which will let you go to SEMI or AUTO tuning (for your purpose select "SEMI").

Teknique Universal Jumbo Remote Freeview Codes

Hey there,

I don't know for sure, but this might help. I asked a question myself then managed to find my own instruction sheet. My question was about the 'auto find' function where the remote tries all codes until you find one that works and store it. Hope it helps!

==
This is it's instructions in case they help anyone else. By the way where it says 'a second or even a third time' be prepeared for many more attempts than 3!!

==
First power on the equipment to be controlled. Press the SET button and don't release, then press the equipment control button (such as tv / vcr etc). The red light will be on. Release the SET button then press the SET button again, the red light will be flashing. Press the POWER button, the remote controller will transmit a signal to power off the equipment. If the equipment cannot be powered off for the first operation, try a second or even third time until the equipment is powered off. When the equipment is powered off, the code will correspond with the equipment. Press the button for the equipment (such as TV) to save the setting.
