Don't waste you time trying to fix it as the coil windings are shot
they are an induced heat system where an immovable object ( soldering tip ) is held in the magnetic field created by the coils which because it cannot move heats up

What type of screw driver do we use to remove the screws from an Oreck cordless steam iron?

these days a lot of mfg r using Torx screws.
It almost looks like an Allen wrench except it is shaped like a star.
UNLESS the mfg doesn't want u to take it apart, then it has a security pin in it to prevent u from using a regular driver.
tip

I just took apart a Sunbeam iron. This is how it disassembles: first remove the...

I recently had a problem with the steam button. It somehow during normal use came off its track in the handle and was stuck down in the "slot". After several searches online and this site i tried a knife along all the edges trying to figure out how to disassemble the iron. Well one quick flick with my knife to the side of the steam button and it came out. Well the surprise was the screw under these buttons. Hopefully this can help someone looking to disassemble the iron when they have problems.

Jbl roxy over ear headphones ref 430 need to install new cord. how do i open cans?

Hello.
Headphone speakers stop functioning properly when the wireconnections to the speaker are broken. This problem often develops when theheadphone cord gets jerked while being worn. The solder connection might alsodetach over time if it was not properly manufactured. The wire can bereconnected to the speaker with a soldering iron to repair the headphone. Beaware, though, that headphones are not designed to be user maintained in thisfashion. In some cases, it is difficult to get to the speaker due to the casingdesign.
Instructions and tools needed
Screwdriver or butter knife (depending on headphone design),Soldering iron, Electrical solder
1 Plug in the solderingiron. It takes a few minutes for it to get warm enough to be used.
2 Unscrew the screws holdingthe headphone casing over the speakers. This step applies only to models thatuse screws in the casing.
3 Insert the end of the butterknife into the seam on the headphone ear pieces. Pry the two halves of thecasing apart. This step is performed only on headphone models that do not usescrews in the casing.
4 Touch the tip of thesoldering iron to the electrical solder. A small drop should melt onto the tipof the iron.
5 Touch the tip of the soldering iron to the end of thedetached speaker wire inside the headphone speaker cavity. Try to get an evencoating of solder around the exposed metal end of the wire. The soldersolidifies on the wire once the soldering iron is removed.
6 Touch the end of the wire tothe solder on the metal tab attached to the speaker.
7 Touch the tip of the solderingiron to where the wire and tab connect. The heat of the soldering iron meltsthe solder on the wire and tab together. This repairs the broken connectionbetween the wire and speaker.
8 Replace the speaker casingonto the headphone. It should snap back into place for models without screws Thanks.

I have a GE D52GW12 rear projection tv. It seems to just loose power and turn off at random times. I already tried different outlets to get it working again.I can get it back working if I wiggle the power...

The tv a/c power cord have internal damages short on the head of the a/c plug itself. This work job is pretty simple if u can do a basic soldering jobs and have tools like a soldering iron and a roll of solders.Look around in ur house for a table portable lamp u don't used anymore unsolders and take that portable lamp a/c power cord.It have very simular design and make of a power a/c cord.Take the tv aparts simplely just unsolder the old tv power a/c cord and replace it with a portable table lamp a/c power cord. Those stars srews on the tv are called Allan wrench screws, must a have a set of Allan wrench screws drivers to use take out this screws out of the tv.Some ealier DLP tvs set made by GE are using these Allan wrench screws, tries to make it much more difficult to take the tv aparts as GE they're trying not to allow tvs owner to take the tv aparts.Or have any friend to help u can do it,have a soldering iron,a rolls of solders, have basic soldering skills.A Allen wrench screws drivers set u can buy it anywhere in a hardware store.

Just bought it online and received it and it does not get hot and the red light keeps flickering. How do you open up the iron? My husband can not figure out how it opens up. He suspects it's the cord...

Generally they are machine pressed and once you open them, it would be difficult to reassemble. Your best option would be to return and tell them the issue.
If that's not an option, you can take the dangerous route of popping it apart at the seem with a flat head screwdriver. Maybe you'll be able to get a better look at where the solder point is from the power to the device. This is not recommended.

No longer melts solder with tip....

You have burned out residue on the tip. Clead it off with a damp cloth when the iron is hot. If this doesn't get it all, use steel wool. Immediately afterwards, get flux & solder onto the tip or it will get coated again.

DC jack broken

My computer repair company aka my username does this repair all the time. Here what you should get.
1. 30-watt iron
2. Light rosin solder ( i think Im using .028)
3. solder ******
4. desoldering braid
Here are some toshiba manuals
When taking apart the laptop I pretend a piece of paper is the laptop and I'll draw holes on the paper to represent the screw holes on the actual laptop and when I unscrew a screw I will take in onto my mock up paper. So I will have a paper for all the bottom screws, a paper for the top cover screws, paper for the motherboard screws etc.

When you finally get the motherboard out of the case, desolder the old jack(from the underside) use the solder **** first and then the braid. Once all 5(usually) pins are desoldered wiggle the old jack out. Then put the new jack in and solder it to the board (on the underside)

Tv repair

No instrution sheet that I know of. Those "F" connectors are most of the time part of the "tuner", if so just take off the tuner (unsolder it) and pop off the two sides of the "tuner can" and straighten the "can". Take the "F" connector with a small screw driver and scrape the side of the connector to make it shinny and so the solder will stick to it, and do the same to the "tuner can". Use a good hot iron to solder it back on. Do NOT get the "F" connector so hot that the inside of the connector will melt. The center conductor of the "F" connector will have to be soldered back into its hole as well.

Taking a Rowenta DX1900 Apart

To get the base off, you have to remove the 2 screws from the face.
the button for the reel has a screw behind it, that needs to be removed.

Take a thin piece of metal, like a spark plug gapper, and slide it in the side to push back the tabs. You have to do it on each side. Remove button and take out screw. The base will come off.

Now you need a special torx srewdriver that allows for the center of the screw to enter the screwdriver.......

Learned the hardway and didn't have the correct torx..... Good Luck

Water Leaking

The seal between the top and the bottom plate has lost it's integrity. First try tightning the 2 screws on the underside of the iron. If that doesn't fix the problem, then you will need to take the iron apart and fix the seal. That will require you to remove those 2 screws and also a third screw that is up by the toe of the iron underneath the sprayer. You will then need to slowly pull the 2 pieces apart becasue the seal is made of a sticky rubber substance. Once you get it apart, you can then distribute the seal material to cover the bad area. Then just put it back together!
