Looking to have fixed old minn kota trolling motor switch for turbo 65 36lb thrust

check make sure its not wired backwards to batteries

There is more than the shaft, there is the housing and then everything needs to fit and have correct clearances.....I suggest sell the old one and get a 52 inch new one...

Minn kota 74 lbs. prop runs when head turns when rotating motor from centre to right, but stops when you turn motor from centre to left. The light on top stays on.

max is 56amps on 24v system

You need your serial number of the trolling motor, length of shaft, and thrust poundage.

Contact the people at this Email address. Minn Kota <[email protected]> The address is between the brackets. They emailed me a manual for a different trolling motor. They are nice folks. It will take up to a week for you to get a reply.

You should only run the motor with a 24v battery or two 12v batters 'jumped' out. To jump the two batteries, connect the positive on one batter to the negative on the other battery and hook the trolling motor battery cables up to positive and negative terminals that are NOT jumped out as you would normally. Don't run this with 12v as you will have serious problems if you do. They do not make a 65lb thrust in 12v - too much pound thrust to run off of 12v.

For starters, here is a schematic:

Check to see if there is appropriate voltage getting to the switch (with an ohm meter).
You can (please do this carefully) disconnect the battery positive and negative as well as the motor red and motor black wires and connect the Batt positive to the motor red and the Batt negative to the motor black. If the motor runs, the switch is faulty. If it doesn't then I suspect the motor needs looking at.
