On sewing machines, when you lower the feed dogs the machine lowers them immediately. However, when you RAISE them, you must turn the hand wheel TOWARDS you several times before you hear them click into place. ALWAYS turn the wheel towards you for anything.

SOURCE: Feed dogs do not come back up after lowering

Are you talking about the feed dogs or the presser foot. Either way, if you moved a lever to lower them, there is probably a screw that either fell out or has become loose that holds the linkage to the lever.

SOURCE: Raising and Lowering the feed dog on Janome 4900 MC

These machines are known to have this problem. The feed lift cam has a groove worn in it that won't allow the feed dogs to come back up. It is on the lower shaft and needs to be replaced. You can get the feed dogs back up by taking off the needle plate and lifting them up manually while turning the hand wheel. They should stay up until you drop them again.
Some people will not replace the cam and live with it.
good luck!

SOURCE: feed dogs

I was having trouble with this too, but found more help online...you have to switch the dog feed back to 'up'....then turn the needle wheel toward you....the feed dog should snap back into place :)
Hope this helps :D

SOURCE: Feed dog lever not working on my Kenmore 385 24 stitch machine

I surfed around this site for various suggestions, finally took the bottom plate off and cleaned and oiled all the parts along that rod that goes right across (think it's a drive bar that rotates). Ran the machine without thread in for a few minutes to let the oil soak in. Machine now works fine.

Bobylock 5260 serger where is the lever to raise the feed dogs?

The feed dog lever on the Babylock 5260 serger is located on the right side of the machine, near the front. It is a small lever that can be moved up or down to raise or lower the feed dogs. To raise the feed dogs, you will need to push the lever up. If you are having trouble locating the lever, you can consult the machine's manual or contact a Babylock dealer or repair technician for assistance.

How to raise the feeder on singer sewing machine 7436

The feed dog position switch is on the back of the Singer Ingenuity 7436, more or less even with the needle bar mechanism. To raise the feed dogs, make sure that the presser foot is up and the needle is at the highest point. Remove the accessory box by pulling it to the left of the machine. Turn the sewing machine around so that you can see the feed dog control lever. Push the lever down (towards the sewing table) and then move it to the right (away from the motor/control section of the machine). Turn the sewing machine around (to the normal sewing orientation) and turn the hand wheel counter-clockwise (towards you), until you hear or see the feed dogs click into the correct position. Note: make sure that the bobbin winder shaft is to the left (not the far-left or right positions). If this doesn't work, then there is probably a broken part in the feed dog or its lift mechanism. The machine needs to be repaired.

The directions to raise the feed dogs are shown in the manual on page 12. The current link to the manual is https://www.singer.com/sites/default/files/product_manual/SINGER%207436%20INGENUITY%E2%84%A2%20Sewing%20Machine.pdf . Many Singer manuals are available from the support page: https://www.singer.com/support . You don't need to enter the full model number to find the manuals. Include any leading letters and some of the numbers in the model number. Leave off any letters at the end of the model number.

I hope this helps.

I need to know how to raise the feed-dogs

Can't help without knowing the make & model machine.

Some machines have a dial or lever to raise/lower the feed dogs. Others come with a plate that covers the feed dogs. Your owner's manual would have the instructions.

Singer sewing machine model 7005, dog feed is not working. Where is the lever to adjust the dog feed.

The Singer Imperial 7005 does not have a feed dog lever. Instead there is a feed dog cover that gets placed over the needle plate. To remove the cover, raise the needle and presser foot. Open the slide plate, then lift up the front edge (closest to the bobbin) of the cover. Then pull the feed dog cover away from the sewing machine.

See page 10 of the manual; it's page 12 of the PDF. The manual is available at the Singer manual search page: http://www.singerco.com/support/instruction-manuals . The direct link to the manual is http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/676_7005.pdf .

I hope this helps.

I can't get my feed dogs to raise. Is there a screw adjustment?

Chances are, your feed dogs raise just fine, but here's the problem. In addition to raising it with the lever, button, or dial, you have to bring the hand wheel TOWARDS you (ALWAYS towards you for ANYTHING) at least one or two revolutions before it will raise and snap into place.

This is true of every machine of every model, by the way, and I have a friend that brought a brand new Brother dirt-cheap from WalMart that was being sold as defective because the feed dogs wouldn't raise. She got it home, flipped the lever, turned the hand wheel two revolutions, and . . . VIOLA! She got a perfectly good brand new machine for practically nothing!

How do i raise the feed dogs on my singer 30215 machine

Slide of the the little table with the accessories in.There is a feed dog adjustment lever at the back of the machine. sliding the lever to the 2 filled in arrows pointing down, will lower them and the 2 filled in arrows pointing up will raise them. The feed dogs will not rise up if you do not turn the hand wheel manually, even if the lever is slid to the right. You must make a complete turn of the wheel to raise the feed dogs.
Best wishes.

Material does not feed therefore stitches are tiny. i have checked threading appears to be correct. Bobbin also correctly threaded. Feed dogs are up. Anything else I should look at. Many thanks

check the stitch length dial setting to see what it set on
the feed dogs job is to move the fabric so the needle can sew it
even if the feed dogs are in the up position the feed dogs may not
be working like they should and they may need to be checked.
