See setup instructions of your router.
You should have the instructions in a PDF file in your installation CD.

Linksys wrt160n network name not showing up?

Hi Renwar13,

This is because on the router wireless page the name of the network was changed.

Usually Linksys is the default name and the person who manages the wireless network would have changed to some other name so as to prevent un authorized access to the WLAN.Please check the right name of the signal and try.

Regards,
Gary.

We have changed the name of our wireless home network and the repeater cannot find the new network

did the repeater come with the main device. if it did not then you may have to configure it to accept the new name change (refer to the device manual if i came with one) since it may have been too well known to the old name. in networking names are very much important so i think you should try sticking to the same name and rather enscript the network with a password known to only you and those who use it that is if only you changed the name for security problems.
good luck

Change the display network name

I am not quite clear if you want to change the Network Name or the broadcasted SSID (the information a wireless client can see).
I would change both, so a client or someone who wants to connect to your network can't see right away that you have a Belkin router.

First log into your router's web interface.
http://192.168.2.1(default), password "admin", username "admin" (als default) or follow the instructions on the screen, if you have never logged in before.

To change the network name, click on "LAN Settings" in the left pane.
Under "Local Domain Name", you can specify a personal name for your network. (I would always change the default "Belkin" so something else.)

To change the SSID, click "Chanel and SSID" also on the left pane a little bit further down. Here you can make changes to the wireless network name (SSID), operating channel, and encryption security settings.

Don't forget to save any changes you made!

If you need a manual, you can find that here.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

My Router works only if I do not put security password on it.

The router works only if the network is unsecured.
When you secure the wireless network , make sure that you will change the wireless network name also. Because if you change the wireless security and if you keep the same network name then your computer will try to connect to the same network name with the old unsecured settings saved on the computer.
Try to change the SSID ( network name ) and security to WPA, check if that works.
If that doesn't work then I believe you will need to upgrade the FIRMWARE of the router.

Change wireless network name, how and where?

The wireless network name is defined by the router (access point), not your individual wireless card (bridge). The manual for your wireless router will tell you how to change the name of your wireless network.
