Make sure you pull at least 6 inches of thread tail through the needle eye before beginning to sew. It also helps to raise the needle to its highest point BEFORE threading the needle.

Try pulling the bobbin thread to the top of the fabric before beginning to sew. Here's how:
How and Why to Bring up the Bobbin Thread

HINT: To make needle threading easy, lick your finger and rub it on the back side of the needle eye. The moisture will help grab the thread end and pull it through the eye. Easy Peasy!

After threading the needle pull about 6" of thread out the back under the press foot
that way the thread is jammed under the foot and is held in place for the next thread
bobbin thread should also be out the back
when you have finished sewing then lift the foot and move the material sewed about 6"" away from the foot before cutting the threads

Upper thread pulls out of needle as soon as I start to sew. Tension is at 5. Bobbin is correctly wound and seated. Machine is threaded corrctly

If your top thread is picking up the bobbin thread, there is probably nothing wrong with the timing. It sounds like you are not pulling enough thread through the needle eye before beginning to stitch. It also helps to have the needle raised to its highest before taking the first stitch. Pulling the bobbin thread up through the fabric and then holding both thread tails lightly in your left hand while taking the first couple of stitchs will help keep the thread from "back pedaling."

How do I get my Elna 7000 to sew as when I thread the needle and start sewing - the thread is somehow pulled out of the needle?

If you haven't already, install a brand new needle. Be sure to use good quality thread--no old stuff or bargain bin variety.

Remove all the thread from the machine.

Raise the needle until it is at the highest point it will reach before it begins to lower.

RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning--verify the thread path is correct. Pull at least 5 inches of thread tail through the needle.

Check that the bobbin is installed correctly.

Set the upper tension to somewhere around the midway point between high & low number.

Thread keeps coming out of needle when sewing

When you start sewing, make sure the thread is long enough so the machine does not pull the loose end down into the bobbin casing. It is best to drawn both threads (bobbin and top thread) up through the pressure plate before you place the fabric under the pressure foot.

Top thread keeps coming out of needle. How do I thread top thread?

Be sure to pull at least 4 to 6 inches of thread through the needle's eye before beginning to sew. Pull the bobbin thread up to the top of the fabric BEFORE beginning to sew.

How and Why to Bring up the Bobbin Thread (This works for regular everyday straight stitching too not just design stitches.)

Then, BEFORE taking the first stitch, hold both thread tails with the left hand and then slowly begin stitching. After a couple of stitches, let go of the thread tails and continue to sew.

If you need instructions on how to thread your machine, search the internet for a manual:

Make + Model + the word "Manual"

or look for videos on YouTube to help with the threading process.

Why won't thread stay in the needle?

Is the thread pulling out of the needle when you first begin to sew? If so, be sure you are pulling sufficient thread through the needle at the outset--between 4-6 inches. You can also try bringing the bobbin thread to the top before beginning to stitch.

My needle keeps coming unthreaded. HELP please

1) Open the needle plate and bobbin case and make sure the tangled threads are removed.

2) Open the manual; read and follow every step.

3) Thread the machine with the presser foot up - this is often overlooked and causes loopy stitches that pull right out.

4) Make sure the bobbin in inserted so the bobbin thread is feeding from the bobbin spool in the correct direction and through the proper guides.

5) Take hold of the needle thread and lower, then raise the needle to pull the bobbin thread up through the needle plate. Take both threads under the presser foot and to the back of the machine.

6) When you come to the end of the stitching, make sure the take up lever is at it's highest position. This will keep the thread from coming out of the needle when you begin to sew.

I hope this will help and you will soon be sewing.
