Can dried paint cause garage door to stick and bend tracks

  • Sam Gibson

Joe, great question about paint causing an overhead door to stick. My in-laws may have a similar situation they're dealing with. They have an old vinyl-backed garage door that seems to stick. I'm not sure if it's due to paint or not. I think they're going to have someone come out and take a look at it. They may end up needing to replace the door. http://qualitydooroh.com/

Hello, yes if you close the door when the paint was still wet, can cause all kinds of problems with sticking and bending tracks, warp the door out of space.

Power window slipped off track drivers side freezing temps

if your window has popped out of its track , a neet hack to get it back in is to use a bar of soap !! just rub a generous amount on glass edge and window track and gently wiggle the glass back into track (don't bend glass) use only an old credit card or your "cold" bare fingers to wiggle it back in , metal tools will break the glass 4 sure

leave the soap on windows edge it keeps ice from sticking !!

I have painted and the paint will not dry, it feels dry but if i lay anything on it magazines, etc. it sticks.

You have not mentioned what kind of paint you have used, however, here are a few ideas.
We might accidentally hit on the one.
Some paints, such as latex or enamel, can do this if the first coat of paint is not completely "cured" before you add the second coat.
To be completely "cured", paint has to dry and harden for a set amount of time.
You also did not mention your location, but temperature & humidity can affect the drying time as well.
If the weather or the room is cold and/or damp, that can keep the paint from drying.
The colder and the damper, some paint will not "cure" at all!
If you used an automotive paint, properly mixed paint sometimes has "dryers" added to the paint to help it dry, but the same applies about the temperature and the humidity.
Automotive paint that is meant to be sprayed on cannot be brushed on, for the same reasons, it may not dry.
God bless your efforts.

2006 chevy silverado manual window stuck

Only 2-3 things left that can cause this. Either the tracks have bent and makes the windows pry and lift abnormally, or the door frame is bent or rusted and jams the window. I've seen rust ballooning the metal before and causing this, and as most cars/trucks have rubber liners over the metal to prevent buffing the paint on the door tracks, it's not always easy to see, so you might want to pry the rubber a bit to have a look or completely remove the vertical linings to inspect. Hope this helps.

93 caviler rs...I need to put passenger window back on the track its completely off

you will have to remove the door panels and remove the motor assembly. likely a piece has fallen off or deteriorated causing the track to stick and thus the problem. if any parts are bent and you can bend them back this will fix it too. but remove the window completely to do this procedure. if the window is a manual window, then same deal. remove the window and all the parts and re-assemble if you can or buy the broken pieces from a junkyard first then from the store if you canot find them in a junkyard.

The windows on the front driver and front passenger doors are off track. Is there any way to open the doors and take the panel off to get to the harness?

what do you mean off track are they jammed in the door panel or do you mean they work once in a while if they are out of the channel you take your door panel off and remove the window and reinstall in the track make sure you lube the track because sometimes the window jams because the channel is to dry and causes the window to stick if you are saying the windows work once in a while the harness at the drivers side usaully breaks in the rubber garment so you have no choice to take panel off and try to remove the garment and chk your harness to repair cut wires if worst to worst you can cut the rubber garment with a exato knife be careful not to cut other wires and cause a greater problem then when you fix the wires you can tape up the old garment but i need more imfo

2005 toyota sequoia rear door latch lever broke need help in finding it

purchase a paint roller tool where the roller part is only about 4" or so long. tear off the soft roller. bend the bar another 45 degrees so the angle from the handle to the part that had the roller on it is about 135 degrees. make sure all 4 doors are unlocked.
get on your knees and look on the right side of the handle where it goes into the door. you will see where you will insert the paint roller. now stand up. facing the door hold the paint rollerhandle in your right hand so it is sticking straight out from the door horizontally . insert the business end into that hole vertically. you will then feel for the "pad" which you are going to depress inside the door. when you feel it, turn the handle you are holding to the right slightly because you are now gong to push on that pad towards the front of the car. in order to do that, you need more clearance and that is why you are moving the handle. use your left hand to stablize your tool at the bend. at the same time put some of your weight on the door as if you were pushing it closed. you will hear it unlatch. lift the door as if the door handle worked. voila. the door is open.
