SOURCE: trying to power a amp with 16 volts. possible?

Golf carts do not have a charging system. If you are going to use battery power only, why not just add (1) 12V car battery instead of (2) 8V??

MA Audio runs (ran) their bench tests @ 17V. All the power ratings advertized are at 17V.

The power supply for the hk4000D is unregulated. So the more voltage = more power.. 8V-16VDC.

  • RMS Power @ 14.4V
    • 1800W x 1 @ 4 Ohm
    • 3600W x 1 @ 2 Ohm
  • RMS Power @ 17.0V
    • 2000W @ 4 Ohm
    • 4000W @ 2 Ohm
More input voltage means the amplifier will have to work less hard to make power.
Don't expect the amplifier to work for very long however. the current drain on a class D amplifier is huge. There are no on-board fuses protecting the power supplies, so be sure to have at lease a 150A power line fuse.
With 150A current draw - even with the amplifier at 1/2 gain - expect to get 10.6 minutes of listening time from your 16 volts before recharging - also note, the amplifier MUST see 8V to turn on, there is a built-in voltage sensor that will shut down the amplifier if voltage is too low.

SOURCE: diagram of 36 volt hookup for trolling motor

To get 36 volts, number batteries 1 thru 3. connect pos 2 to neg 1, connect pos 3 to neg 2, connect pos 1 to trolling motor controller and neg 3 to ground on trolling motor.
This is only a solution for 3 battery system.
For 4 battery system, connect 4 to 3 pos to pos and neg to neg.

SOURCE: Trying to hook 12 volt lights to a 36 volt golf

The exact answer depends on what battery voltage you have but this hint will get you going.
Assuming you have 3 12v batteries, just wire to the first battery + - and you'll have 12 v. If you have 6 6v batteries, wire to the first + and the second -. If you have a voltage meter, you can verify the voltage of my suggestion.
This will work for lights and other resistance circuits but not for sensitive items like radios.
Golf cart batteries are series wired to get the higher voltage.
If this answers your question, I'd appreciate 4 thumbs. I do this for fun and do not get paid.

Is it possible to speed up an electric golf cart?

Most electric golf carts run on a max speed of 12MPH. It all depends on the voltage. The higher the voltage, the faster the speed. Most electric carts out there run on either a 36 or 48 volt operating system and can only last about 20-25 miles per each charge.

There are some new carts coming to market that are able to travel faster and possibly on less energy and can go up to 19 MPH. Many of the latest models are operated by computers and have quite a few high quality and unique components compared to older trolleys and carts. If you want or need something faster, they are worth look into.

How to get More power out of a EZ go golf cart

I need to know whether it's a 36 or 48 volt cart. You can get a freedom chip for about five bucks that would give it more speed or torque depending on which you're looking for. If you have money to spend you could upgrade your controllers as well as your batteries as well as your battery cables. A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if answer is helpful for your question. THANK you and GOD BLESS

    36 volt ezgo

First of all, lift rear axle off the ground and place blocks or jack stands underneath. Check to see if you have 36 volts On your batteries. Now you want to run a jumper across the big cables on the solenoid. Press the accelerator and the motor should engage. Clicking is a pretty sure sign that the solenoid is bad. Please let me know if this is useful. I can further elaborate more troubleshooting if this doesn't solve your problem.

I doubt your understanding of how the motor works is correct. More likely 2 of the terminals on the motor are for the field coils. The battery charger should not be used directly to power the motor without a battery also connected. The motor would function as a short circuit to the battery charger.
Instead, you can use 2 car batteries to test if the motor works. The full 36 volts is not needed.

Want to connect electric lights to ez-go electric golf cart. It is a six battery system and I want to simply add a front light and rear red light.

You said you have 6 batteries. Are they 6 volt or 8 volt? Hint-- 6 volt has three holes in the top and an 8 volt has 4 holes on top of the battery. Battery manufacturers recommend the use of a voltage reducer wired to the whole bank. This take the 36 or 48 volts down to 12 volts and is regulated. this is recommended so as not to stress just 2 batteries. If you have 6 volt batteries, you can use any 2 that are wired in series.
