My warn vantage 3000 will not spool in. solenoid clicks but motor does not turn. winch operates on out. use for snowplow, only a month old

If motor runs in one direction motor is not burned out.
Solenoid clicks, solenoid is ok.
Most likely points on solenoid on one side. If you can get to it, then look at the points.
To check , reverse battery terminals then click. the reverse should work and the other not. This will prove the points are bad on one side. .
In that case, you have to take it apart put in new points or get new switch.

My winch don't move it all?

if you can use the winch manually by pressing buttons on the winch then the problem will be in either the remote unit(Battery in back to front) or the receiver in the winch

How do I check on the winch I recently purchased

There should be a black connection on the winch. This is ground or -. There is a red. it is +. Find a battery and jumper cable, connect on all but one terminal. Tlouch and the motor should spin.
This proves the motor runs. Then connect the control, and this will prove the control.works (cables connected firmly and the control is used to run forward and backward.

I pinched my remote plugin cable and broke one wire. I spliced the wire and the winch still won't work. Is there a reset button or a fuse which may have shorted out? The winch is a m12000 from 1997.

Is the hot wire connected directly to the battery? Did you check to see if the wire is hot after you spliced it? There may be fusible link in the wiring or the wiring may be broken somewhere else. You can also try running a new hot wire from the battery to rule out a faulty winch. Trace the wire from the winch to its source of power, ie fuse box or battery

Warn winch troubleshooting

It sounds like your solenoid is not reversing the polarity , which will require a new winch solenoid. Before replacing the solenoid, check your switch. It might have one contact no good. Switch the wires around and try to retract winch by paying out.

Polaris ranger problems

put jumper leads from a battery across the main terminals of the winch It should work one way Then reverse the polarity and it should work the other way. If so the winch is good . undo the hand held and check the switch by using a multi meter for continuity on the leads as you switch from in to out.(forward reverse)

1999 polaris 500 sportsman, my atv starts easily and runs great,it has a new battery in it and the lights all work.what won't work is the electric start, and the warn winch.any ideas or answers, thanks, ken

Both are fed right from the battery. Check all main battery wires and fuses. Ground wire too. pull on wires going into connectors and terminal lugs for tightness. Follow main battery wire to starter solenoid and and winch, fully inspect where they go and find a common link, that's where you will find the problem.
