The interior light won't turn off and can hear a fan. usually it goes dark and quiet

It sounds like one of the door interlock switches is bad. You will have top access the control panel where you should gain access to the switch assembly. tested or replace the top and bottom switches. there usually is a third switch that is has a different connection configuration. this will be the monitor switch it is highly unlikely it is this switch or the fuse would be blown.

JVM1340 lights not working

Hi,

Behind the top grill above the door is an access panel to change the light bulb. If the bulb is good but light still don't work, its possible the door switch is bad, but normally if the switch is bad the turn table won't work either. Most likely just a bad bulb part number you would seek is WB36X10003 this is not cheap for a bulb, you maybe able to get a replacement from a local lighting center near you. its a 40 watt, 130V bulb

Good Luck

Won't shut off

You may have a problem with a door switch or door switch mount, or there may be a shorted relay on the control board, which can easily be repaired.
Our help file on door switches is here, and the Advantium 120 service manual is here.
You can order GE parts from the Pros here.

Microwave won't start

I have the same problem. Is the light still on inside the microwave? Mine is on and the microwave thinks the door is not shut. I took the top off of the microwave and the latch needs to push down on a switch once shut. The latch was reaching the switch, but I think some spring in the door, pushing the latches down, has broken since it reaches the switch when closed but there isn't any downward force to flip the switch.
I am trying to figure out how to repair the latch but if your light is on when you "shut" the door, you may have the same problem.

Turntable and light won't shut off.

The common cause is one or more bad door switches, or possibily the keypad control board.

The turntable and light won't shut off when not in use

The door switch, one or more are a common problem, or the keypad control board, "less likely"

Zmb30cst light problem

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch or a loose door switch mount.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

Wasn't heating food ... Now won't turn on.

We have critical safety information, door switch information, and disassembly information at our site. You can access it through our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk The purpose of the middle "monitor" door switch is to blow the fuse if the upper or lower switch gets activated with the door open. So you'll also need a fuse now, certainly. You may have originally just had a bad door switch, but there also may be a problem in the high voltage section. Most typically a bad connection at the magnetron or a bad magnetron. You can find exploded views of the microwave and affordably order parts here http://tinyurl.com/gv383 Or you can order parts from Sears via http://www3.sears.com
