Many issues few solutions

Basically

  1. I was trying to install Windows Media player 11 in order to hook upto PS3 on my PC which is Windows XP and came installed with the MS Media Centre.
  2. But I needed to install an upgrade (Update Rollup 2 for Wndows XP Media Center Edition 2005)
  3. The problem started when I started the install – it would not install Update Rollup 2 for Wndows XP Media Center Edition 2005
  4. So I went on a Blog http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2005/10/24/484381.aspx for help
  5. I mucked about with this and other things such as .Net framework 1.0 and 1.1
  6. Basically have got to the point with messing about on the PC that nothing works and Error code 1935 and Error Code 2908 appear
  7. Worst is that now the Internet does not work, media centre does not install and viewing anything means more error codes
  8. Also then did system restore that did not offer the option of going back further than the current point in time – did that and no luck

Sounds like you have a real mess there that you can lose a lot of time trying to solve. I'd suggest saving all your files to another drive, and then reinstall the OS and only allow the system to update through the Windows update manager/web site, which should be able to match up the right update files. Do all this patching of the OS without installing any other hardware devices to keep it clear where things go wrong. Once the OS is patched completely, install new hardware and patch it separately watching for the tell-tale incompatibilities with XP/MCE2005. Especially watch for legacy devices that might not have modern drivers.

Hope this helps - good luck...

Need to install media player 11 , have verified authenticity ,can't find windows code to allow install

If Windows will not verify, that might be another issue. If you are downloading Media Player from Microsoft, may want to try again. If no luck, you can try to use another media player such as VLC.

Olympus ws-110 no playback when connected to pc

ahh...that sounds like a player issue..open your settings on WMP and look to see that it's not on sample mode
tip

XP would not recognize my e250 (new version)

The latest version of the Sansa E250 only has one mode... MTP. USB mode has been removed. My windows XP laptop would see the device and install it fine, but Media Player, Yahoo Music, and any other software would not recognize the MTP device until I installed Windows Media Player 11.

Once installed, even Yahoo Jukebox recognized the device.

I returned 1 & got a new one before I tried this solution. So if you're having a similar issue, don't return it until you've tried the latest version of WMP.

Hope this helps.

My GoGear won't synchronize with Windows Media Player 11

You have to update the firmware on that particular player to make it compatible with Windows Media Player 11. Grab the latest version of the Philips Device Manager from Philips website, install it, open it, and click the "Update" button. It will erase all your songs in the process, but then your player will be fixed, and you can move on.

Error when I try to use Windows Media Player 10 or 11

Hi,
This error is generally the result of a corrupt or missing Custsat.dll file, usually located in the C:Program FilesWindows Media Player folder. To workaround this problem:
1. Remove the current Windows Media Player 10 install.
2. Download and install

Windows Media Player 11 for Windows Vista

or

wm_tn_wmp11xp.jpgDownload Player 11 for Windows XP

I tend to use VLC Player, as it plays everything I throw at it..

Hope this helps

My zen micro will not work on windows 11 media player

Try the recovery tool from here (this is relevant to your recovery mode question also), but not all mp3 players will work with Windows Media Player 11 - causes a DB corruption - roll back to Windows Media Player 10 if this is the case:

Software incompatability

Some one else had this problem and i explained i couldn't find any software for that mp3 player that was compatible for Windows Vista so i told him to try and use Windows Media Player 10 or 11 to put songs on and he said it worked.

To use Windows Media Player 10 or 11, connect your iPod then go to Windows Media Player at the top click on the link called "Sync" now your on that on the right is a pane drag and drop your music there then click "Start Sync" once sink is complete disconnect and see if that works.

If you do not have a latest version (you should have because your running Windows Vista.) if not for some unknown reason here is the latest Windows Media Player - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/default.aspx

Good luck. Hope my solution was helpful in some way. Further problems just leave a message on this page and i will get back to a.s.a.p.
