The options button and the back button have stopped working. To close an app I have to power off then power on the phone. Can they be fixed somehow? I've had the phone for about 3 years

May be a hardware problem

Reboot. Remove battery and wait for 5 seconds. Put it back on. Enter 'Recovery Mode'. There will be some hardware button combination to enter Recovery Mode like Power+Volume Up+Volume Down. After entering, depending on your phone, you might have to navigate through physical buttons.
You will find 'Clear Cache' and 'Clear Dalvik Cache'. Do both.
And then Reboot normally. Now see if you can get the launcher working on your phone.
If that doesn't work, press home key, see if you can open some browser application or Play Store and download and install a new Launcher.
If that doesn't work, but you can somehow access settings, go to settings->Apps and clear data of your Launcher App.
If that isn't possible then, go to Recover Mode again and do 'Reset Factory Defaults'. This should make your phone feel just like when you brought it.

Sometimes phones do this after 6 months to 2 years of use, especially the cheaper ones.
First: Remove the battery out the back of your phone for 10 seconds and then put it back in. Now try to turn it on.

Second option: This will remove all personal data from your phone: contacts, photos, apps... If first option doesn't work, then you may need to factory reset your phone. This can be done by holding the power button and volume down button while the phone is powered off. Keep pressing those buttons until you get to a screen you have not seen before. Now used the volume down control to go down the list of options and press volume up once you have "Factory Reset" selected.

If the second option doesn't work then your phone is defective and nothing short of hacking your phone will fix this. Usually it is best to invest in another phone.

On my Samsung G3 phone, you hold down the button below the screen for a few seconds, and a list of apps comes up. Sweep an app to the side to close it.

Close GMail first by swiping it off the running apps screen.

Uninstall GMail using the *Uninstall* option in:

Settings > Apps > Downloaded > GMail. Touch GMail and you will get another screen with an option to uninstall it. Touch the uninstall button and it will uninstall.

Then go to the Google App Store and download it again. It sounds like the Mail app got corrupted somehow.

How to Fix the iOS 11 Camera Not Working

1. Close the Camera App completely.

If you find problems with the iOS 11 camera app during usage, close the app from the App Switcher and then open it again.

4. Check for new iOS Updates

Usually if there's a bug in the old version, Apple would have the bug fixed in the latest update. So check and see if there's any update available and update immediately when you can.
Go to Settings>General>Software Update to check for the latest update.

5. Check if you have run out of storage space

One possible reason why you can't take a picture with your camera is that you may have used up your storage space and there's none left for more photos. Go check and see if that's the reason.

Factory Reset is the only thing I know that will fix this somehow the Launcher(on HTC's called SENSE) has become corrupted and since that is a system required app your phone won't be able to load any further.

The Sprint Evo is an Android smartphone capable of running applications in the background. It's best to close applications you aren't using, since running applications drains the phone's battery. Most apps allow you to close them through the menu inside the application, but if the app stops responding or has no close option, you can use the Force Stop function. Force Stop functions much like the Task Manager feature in Windows. It closes the app, but does not delete data or uninstall the app.

1. Press the "Menu" button from the main screen on the Evo.

2. Tap "Settings" and touch "Applications."

3. Select "Manage applications" and open the "Running" tab.

4. Locate the application you want to close and tap it.

5. Touch the "Force Stop" button to close the app.

Try forcing the app to close. When it is open, hold down the power button until the "slide to turn off" appears. Then hold the home button until the app exists. Then try starting the app again. Secondly, try restarting your phone completely. If these do not work it is a problem with the app that you can't fix, you should contact the developer and perhaps they will address it in the future with an update.
