hi Shirley. Log into your fitbit.com dashboard and click the gear icon in the top right corner. Click Settings. You'll see your personal information. Click the Reset Password link below your email address.21 Mar 2017
if your password to the app is wrong you may need to log on to the page on a PC and reset your password using your recovery email address. once you change the password online, the password on the app will change and you should be able to access the device.
if that doesn't work, make sure the Fitbit is fully charged, and the Bluetooth is enabled on your phone so you can communicate with the device.
If that doesn't work, walk through the process of adding a new device to your Fitbit app.
If these fail, you may need to replace your device. contact Fitbit and see if it's under warranty. they may replace it for you.
Otherwise, but a new one. I'm sure your time is worth more than buying a new one.
