Clicking noise on GE Refridgerator

I'm responding to osmium2's answer regarding a clicking refridgerator (4/21/09). Our refridgerator (GE GSH25JFRE WW - almost 3 years old) clicks for 5 to 45 minutes prior to the motor starting. Also the controls on the door all stopped working (the lights in the freezer dim if you press the dispenser and a couple of times such attempts shorted out the fridge altogether and I had to unplug and plug back to get it started). I checked capacitors C29 and C30 and they were in fact bulged at the top as osmium2 had described. I'm not an electrician but would like to attempt the fix myself. Where do you get such capacitors (how do you describe them to the retailer) and how do you install a capacitor on a board (take it out and put it in)? Thx - Jay

SOURCE: Door dispenser stopped dispensing, starting making a constant clicking and now the entire fride isn't working

We had the same problem. Our frigerator is 1.5 year old. Everytime we try to dispence water or ice the dispencer clicks and the whole thing turns of. We had a GE repairman come by: the electronic board needs to be replaced: total cost $350. (cost of the board only: $150. We are considering disconnecting the dispencer by unplugging the board (according to the repain man the ice maker wil still work)or buy a new refrigurator (for sure NO GE!!!!!!)

SOURCE: GSH22JSRE SS not cooling

I would strongly advise seeking a competent fridge guy. If it is the compressor (which sounds like a distinct possibility) they should be able to identify it very quickly. They would then be able to give you a cost on replacement. Alternatively you could try throwing it back at where you got it from and see if there is an extended parts only warranty. Some manufacturers now have three or even five years warranty on major components (ie compressors). Although there is no guarantee of this, its always worth a try, you might get someone sympathetic to your plight, due to the young age of the cabinet. Hope this is of some if not limited use.

SOURCE: Side by side stopped working but clicling noises every second two.

Ok the motherboard is malfunctioning. Ive observed this exact problem before. Replace the board and all will be normal again. If you keep lettig it click and click it may finally kill that relay that you descibed to me or even worse the compressor itself.

SOURCE: PDS22SBSALSS Clicking Noise/ Temperature Control Panel

It is possible to change out that relay...if your unit has one. This is usually a small plastic box on top of the compressor...but not a round tubular thing...which is the start capacitor. Just make sure you are careful...take out the plug. If you're messing with the capacitor...it has terminals which do contain hazardous voltage. Discharge with a screwdriver across the terminals. Generally, the relay is the thing which gives the symptoms you're facing. Change both and you've probably got it...they're cheap. Not all models have both.

SOURCE: ge gss25ifrf ww side by side fridge clicking

Sounds like the main control board is bad . Pt # WR55X10656 . This board is located behind the 8 " X 10 " , panel just above the compressor compartment . The compressor relay , is what you hear clicking , cutting the compressor , on/off . Even the dispensor board , is operated by the main control board .

Why does 15 amp 250 volt fuse in my lg refridgerator keep blowing

the 15 amp fuse is blowing because the current draw to run the compressor exceeds 15 amps
that problem could be from a failed start/ run capacitor or a failed compressor motor (I am betting on the capacitor)
the best answer is to get a fridge technician to check it out as the capacitor is a cheap fix while the compressor unit is as costly as a new fridge

My ice maker on the freezer side door stopped working so I changed out the motherboard CCA in the back of the refridgerator & it started working again but the water did not. I need to replace the...

Blake are you talking about the dispenser control board? The ice maker tells the water control valve to come on for the preset amout of time to refill the ice trays most times about 7.5 seconds. and filling ice maker with tap water will test icemaker. If water freezes and the ice dumps the signal is sent to the water control valve Click here=> WR57X10050 here is a service manual=> PROFILE ARTICA SERVICE MANUAL CLICK HERE Have questions you may contact me here on Fixya or my Forum=> Appliance 911 My contact information is located above the Fixya Ad on my blog here=> Sea Breeze Appliance Parts and Technical Services, Thanks, Sea Breeze

The compressor is not running and there is a clicking noise coming from the circuit board panel on the back of the refridgerator

You have to replace the main control board . The clicking is the compressor board relay , which the only repair , is to replace the main board .

GSS22KGMC WW side-by-side refridgerator not cold anymore

I have no idea to this day, what caused the complete lack of cooling in my freezer and refridgerator. However, it seems to be working fine now. All I did was turn the compressor and fan totally off, let it rest for a few minutes, and then turn it back on. It seems to have "re-booted the system, and now everything is working normally. The ice-maker is once again making ice! It has been three days or so now, and so far, so good!
