TV goes to blank screen standby after one second of normal functioning green power light on. When in standby state, the TV is blank like it's off and the red standby light blinks FOUR times.

When I plug the TV in, and before I turn it on, a single loud click sound comes from the bottom left of the TV. About 10 seconds later I hear a softer click sound come from the TV like the sound I would get when I turned the TV off when it was working properly. These sounds do not occur if I plug the TV out and then back in with a minute or so. The TV also does not power up and give me a normal picture for a second either when I plug the TV out and then back in within a minute it goes straight to standby.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

How many times red light blinks? It is error code of problem in TV.
There would be pause of 3 seconds between blinks so count from pause to pause and let me know to find out solution.

SOURCE: When TV is turned on,

Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.

  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.

SOURCE: red light flashes 8 times

I went to servicemanuals.net and downloaded the complete service manual for this TV and found that 8 blinks means you need to check out the Panasonic-txnss1rltu-ss-board which I have had to replace once before on this set. I have found further that this item is prone to short life as a result of inadequate ventilation problems. Anyway, the part I need was easy enough to find in the service manual and ShopJimmy has it for about $43. So my problem is solved now.

TV won't turn on. flashes a series of 5 red lights instead of turning green

Usually Sony and LG Blinking Codes are the same. Here is what I have.
  • Unit is dead, No blinks - Problem in the standby power section. Might check fuse,
  • Continuous blink once a second, no pausing - No reply from the jungle IC301 (data bus is busy, shorted to ground, or held high), IK video path is defective.
  • One blink - not used for the self-diagnosis
  • Two blinks - B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits.
  • Three blinks - B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power supply circuit,
  • Four blinks - No vertical Deflection (V STOP), Screen goes to a single horizontal line then the video signal muted.
  • Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.
  • Six blinks - No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately.
  • Seven blinks - High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits.
  • Eight blinks - Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code.
  • Nine blinks - Panel Module Error or Thermal Error. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing Make sure the regulator is -12 or -13 (negitive).
  • Ten blinks - Check Q8014 and Q8013 for shorts, leakage, or bad solder connections on the " D" board. If the transistors are bad, check R8051 and IC8005, also on the "D" board.

I have a Sony KDS-R50XBR1 that has no picture. When I turn on the TV, the green Power/Standby LED light blinks for about 30 seconds, then turns red and blinks five times. The Power/Standby LED repeats...

  • Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen A2 slightly.

My Sony KP-46WT500 screen shows the tv image in blue only for a few seconds, then it goes completely blank (as if it were off). Do I need to replace the bulbs?

It is rear projection TV that use 3 picture tubes of red-green-blue to show color picture on tv front screen.
Do you see standby red light blinking when TV shuts off after showing blue image for a while?
If red standby light is blinking, please count it how many times it blinks, there would be 3 seconds pause between blinks so count pause to pause and post it here to find out possible solution.
Thanks.

KP57WV600 SCREEN TURNS GREEN THEN BLANK

The self-diagnostic function of the projection TV will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue. As per the two examples below, some of the issues may be resolved without the need for service.
  • If the STANDBY light flashes three times in sequence, the lamp cover is not securely attached. Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue.
  • If the STANDBY light flashes four times in sequence, the TV may be overheating. To resolve this issue, ensure that the back of the TV is well ventilated.
If the flash sequence is not listed above or the light continues to flash, follow the steps below to perform a power reset:
  1. Turn off the television. IMPORTANT: For a projection TV that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the TV to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
  2. Unplug the TV power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Let the TV remain without power for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the TV is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the TV.
  5. Turn on the television. NOTE: If the TV does not turn on immediately, the fan may need to finish its cycle. This is part of the cooling process for some projection TVs and is normal operation. After the fan turns off, attempt to turn the TV on again.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required . Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.

Stuck in standby

Sorry about that. When the tv goes bad like not turning on, the green light will blink, and goes right back to red standby light while the dtv letters will briefly show on the lower right of the tv screen, then go back to blank screen. The tv will need to be taken to an authorized service center for repair. Common causes are a bad inverter/power supply, power control board, or circuit board.

TV shut off while watching and won't come back on

It seems this is a self diagnostic function. the official sony codes are as follows

In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.
  • Six blinks - No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206.
It sounds like you have a video input problem. Have you unhooked all inputs from the TV and tried to power it back on by itself? Hope this helps
