The DPI are not a user allowed settings. Normally DPIs are factory defined.
You can change the DPI using software. Normally the image administration software and advanced softwares can allow you to change it.

Remember an important issue: DPIs are a printing matter not an image quality matter. Yo can set an image to 300 DPI and the same to 72 DPI and you will see no difference between both images.

A good camera and your skills will allow you to take high quality images.

I have several Zebra 300dpi printers. One of them doesn't print properly it looks like the font is too large. I have compared the set up with a printer that works and they look the same.

First I'm asking you, what model of printer do you have? Check if the printhead installed is a 300dpi one. Also check if the model of printer is 300dpi configuration by verifying the "printer part number/serial number" label. If the printer is a 300dpi model and the printhead was changed with a 200dpi, all the label content will be printed bigger, just like you described.

What is dpi on Kodak EasyShare M1093IS

The DPI (dots per inch) number only has meaning when printing the picture. It's meaningless to a camera.
The M1093IS takes photos that are 3672 x 2748 pixels at its best resolution. If you make a 4x6 print of one, you'll be getting more than 600dpi. If you make a 8x10 print of the same picture, you'll only be getting about 300dpi. Yet they're made from the same image file.
If you must change the image file itself, open it in just about any photo editor, change the DPI field, then save the file. Make sure you do this to a copy, not the original.

Have A Zebra Z6M Plus 300dpi printer Z6M00-2006-0000, then purchased a Zebra ZM400 300dpi printer, attempting to print using formats from Z6Mplus, result is a print approx 150 % larger ??? Downloaded...

Print configuration from both printers and compare. Print config- Hold cancel button 10 sec. while power on. Check Resolution parameter. 203dpi=8MM Full , 300dpi=12MM Full. Sounds like perhaps they are different dpi.

Photographs always come into photoshop at 72dpi. how do I increase this so photographs come in at 300dpi?

Forget 72dpi. Photoshop opens the picture in 100%.
1 pixel on the monitor is one pixel from the camera.
300dpi is only relevant when making prints, where 300dpi is the highest quality you can get from a lab.
The smaller the print, the more dots you get per inch.

Can i change the compression and ratio on my canon powershot a570 is to shoot in 300 dpi?

Not really, since "300 dpi" is a print resolution specification. The camera takes pictures at whatever resolution you have set (0.3MP to 7.1MP on the A570).

If you print a 0.3MP photo at 300dpi, you'll get a picture 1.6 inches by 2.1 inches (smaller than a business card). If you print a 7.1MP photo at 300dpi, you'll get a picture about 8 inches by 10 inches. You can also get an 8x10 from the 0.3MP if you print at 60dpi, but the result will be rather grainy.

Again, "300 dpi" has no meaning to the camera.

I want to increase the size of the small drawings i do from my epson 1250 scanner to my canon 1800ip to a4 printout size is this possible.

You have to scan the pictures with a higher resolution to be able to print them in a larger format with acceptable quality.

If your default scanning setting is, say, 150dpi resolution, and you want the picture to be enlarged twofold, then you have to increase the resolution to 300dpi. If you have 300dpi now, increase it to 600dpi.
Some scanner utilities do a fully automatic scan - then you have to find the automatic scan settings and change the default resolution. Or better yet, find an option for a non-automatic scan, where you are presented with various options after the preview scan has been done. There you can usually set the desired size, resolution, improve contrast, sharpness etc.

Generally, the higher the scanning resolution, the more detail you have on the picture, and the higher magnification you can obtain when printing without quality loss.

But there's a catch - a picture in higher resolution produces a bigger file on disk - the file size grows faster then the resolution - a two times bigger picture will be four times bigger on disk. So you have to make sensible choice.
