You have a problem with the defrost system. Try disconnecting power overnight and allowing fridge to defrost. The problem will not occur immediately after defrosting, but will probably restart after few days, when the evaporator coils freeze again. In that case the defrost system must be tested and repaired.
The defrost system comprises
defrost thermostat, heater, defrost control and fan. The parts that
fail more commonly are thermostat and heater. Both parts are located
behind freezer firewall and tested reading impedance with a multimeter.
A
test on the defrost system can be done by performing a complete defrost
manually (remove food and leave power disconnected overnight). If the
fridge restarts working after defrost, then problem was the defrost
system. In that case the problem may return after few days or weeks,
meaning that one part in the defrost system is faulty.Parts must be tested.
If
the defrost makes no change, then there is a different problem. The
damper ventilation system , the temperature control or the refrigerant
gas pressure may be the problem. When the problem is one of these faults
you get the compressor is running regularly, but will stay on most of
the
time.
If the motor is
humming and clicking most of the time, but not properly starting, then
the problem is usually the starter relay/capacitor. Relay and capacitors
can be replaced to fix the problem.
Here a tip explaining how to deal with a similar problem on a different fridge model: Fridge not cooling. Procedure is similar on your model.
When the freezer section gets cold and reaches
its required cooling temperature, after that the frost on freezer section
starts defrosting and the cooling fan in the freezer section blows this cool
air from freezer to fridge. But if the defrost cycle does not start then over
ice will get collected on freezer ventilations and that will block the
air passing section from freezer to fridge, so the freezer gets cool but fridge
section does not cool. Its defrost problem. Try
manual defrost by unplugging the refrigerator from main power outlet
for 24 hours then reconnect it and check, if the same problem is noticed again,.
If yes then its defrost board problem. The defrost board located in the back of
fridge section. You can get required parts from www.repairclinic.com or from
online sears part site. ------------- Thank you.
Hi, There are a few reasons why the refrigerator part will not cool...here are a couple of tips that will help you to figure out why the refrigerantor is not cooling...
Pour about 1/2 cup of water into ice maker . If it dumps the cubes , then replace the water valve . If it doesn't , replace the ice maker . Also make sure the refrig coils are clean and free of dust , lint , pet hair , etc....
sounds like its freezing up on you. check the drain outlet and make sure that its clear. also i would replace the defrost timer on this unit because its suppose to bring on the heaterfs to melyt the ice so thaat yoiu don't have to. they are around 30 mdollars at the appliancew repair store and all you need is the model number and serial number for the uit. after you get it it's either on the very top of the refrigerator section or in the very back. It has 4 wires going to it. good luck.
You said, you recently had a problem with my Candy fridge freezer (it defrosted overnight and wasnt cooling at all) and a repair
shop diagnosed a thermostat problem. I have replaced the thermostat,
Now the freezer freezes without any problems but the fridge does not go
cold at all.
Also the compressor is running constantly
This is my first thought
Fresh Food temperature is too warm. Freezer temperature is satisfactory. 1. Fresh Food control is set too warm. 2. Set fresh food control to a colder setting. Allow 24 hours for temperature to stabilize.
3.Then see if you do not have your freezer articles packed full up to the top, or covering the cold air vents usually found in the rear of the freezer compartment.
The fridge and the freezer share the cold air so the air must not be restricted from travel form the freezer to the fridge and back! This would also cause the compressor to run none stop trying to cool the fridge! So check your air vents in the freezer. I'll bet you did not know they were there ! Most of us never notice! Hope this works for you. Please let me know that one of these solutions worked for you! or if you have any questions. Thank You, huuum Please remember to leave a rating!
