The ACTIONTEC GT124, M1000 and PK5000 Routers are not compatible with wireless-enabled all-in-one printers. These routers cannot connect to your all-in-one printer because they do not support the multicast protocol. Contact your router supplier for additional assistance and to determine if your router will be able to support the muticast protocol in the future.

SOURCE: lost cd and need to connect printer to new laptop

You can download the same by visiting the website:

http://support.en.kodak.com/app/answers/list/c/890/selected/true

Even here you need to be careful to download the correct software for your PC. You need to be exact with the Printer Model number and the OS that you are using.
To install just Double clock on the driver setup.exe file and go on clicking 'Next' until you get the 'Finish' option and restart the PC.

Hi.. Please can you help me? Am trying to connect my Lexmark s305 printer to my laptop via wireless. but the setup is asking for the wep key. where can i get this? thanks

The WEP key allows printers and computers to join your wireless network. I imagine you are not connecting the printer to your laptop but to the wireless box that provides WiFi connection to your Laptop and other PCs on your wireless network. If you never set up a password or Wep Key yourself to secure your wireless network, it means your network is secure by default and the administration page of the wireless box (router or access point) will contain this information in one of its WIFI/security Tabs , for example the user's manual for your Wireless box will give you the IP address you need to type in a Browser(like IE) to access this page (that may also be protected by a default password unless you changed it) or this can be found at the physical bottom of this same box as is often the case with wireless Boxes provided by your ISP.
once in the admin page of your Box providing the wireless for your network you can access the security tab to know or change this WEP KEY. if you dont know the IP address of your Box, type ipconfig/all in MSDOS (cmd.exe) and look up the gateway address for your wireless network card. this will most likely be the IP of your wireless box or access point. (often like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 or something similar) Hope this help, feel free to bring further information for further help and rate the Help if it was of any use, cheers

The printer is usually discovered by the computer, not the other way round.
Use Windows explorer, networks to discover it.
1. Make sure file and printer sharing for networks is enabled on networking part of the control panel for Windows.
2. Make sure the appropriate protocol has been set up ie TCIP and that the printer has an IP address in the range recognised by the router.
3. Make sure the printer is in the same workgroup under windows.

My hp lap top wont connect to the internet through the usb the ethernet or wireless and it was working fine until 24 hours ago. I think it may be the network adapter. I re installed the driver for it but...

Try turning off the wireless router fo 30 secs and then power it up again. When the LEDs light up, then boot up the HP laptop.
If this doesn't work, then check the laptop to see if the wireless router issued the HP laptop with an IP address. to do this - click on Start - Run - type cmd and press Enter. This will open a DOS command box, then type ipconfig and press Enter.
If the IP address returns 0.0.0.0 then the wireless router didn't issue the HP with an IP address and either the wireless router is faulty or the wireless card is faulty or it has lost its LAN configuration.
If the wireless router LEDs are all on, try connecting a LAN cable direct to the LAN port on the router and the laptop to see if it connects to the Internet. If it connects then install the latest wireless card driver and configure it with the wireless router's settings.

Click Start...Settings...Control Panel.
Double click on Network Connections. You will be able to see a list of network connections. Right click and hit properties.
You should see a listing of installed Clients and protocols.
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is installed by default and may be there already. Make sure that the box is checked.
If Internet Protocol is not listed, click on Install and Select Protocol and click Add. On the left, make sure Microsoft is selected. On the right, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click OK. The necessary Client will install automatically.
If Internet Protocol is present, click on it (do not uncheck the box). Then click on Properties. On the General Tab, you should have Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatially selected. If not, select them.
Click OK a few times to close everything out.

To install a HP printer (with built-in Jetdirect print server) as a network printer you need to do the following -
1. Open the printer’s menu and enable the Network Card – then configure the IP address of the network card so it matches the IP range of your network. Eg. If your IP's are 192.168.0.xxx then set the network card to a high number say 100 then set the Subnet Mask IP address to 255.255.255.0

If you have a wireless router then check the IP addresses that the router issues to the computers on your network and configure the IP address in the printer accordingly.
2. Install the HP printer driver on your computer/s using the LPT printer port.
3. Connect the printer with a LAN cable to the network hub/router.
4. Click on Printers and Faxes - right click on the HP printer and click on Properties.
5. Click on Ports and click on Add Port.
6. In available ports - click on Standard TCP/IP Port and then Configure port.
7. Tick the IP box and type in the IP address of the HP's printer IP address.
8. Click OK and tick Enable bi-directional support and then OK

Install the HP printer driver on every computer on your network and configure the printer’s TCP/IP port as previously detailed.

Do a test print page to check the printer.
You can now print from any computer on your network.

1, You need know the TCP/IP address range that your router is allocating to your network. You can check this by typing ipconfig in the DOS window (click Start - Run - then type cmd to get a DOS window)

2. Take a note of the TCP/IP address and sub net mask etc.
Most likely IP address is 192.168.0.xxx (xxx might be 2 or 3 etc.)
Then go to the HP printer and to the configuration menu and scroll through to the Network configuration and setup the IP address and sub net mask. Set an IP address nearly the same as on your laptop but the last group of digits to be greater than the laptop (eg 10 or 15).

3. If you have installed the printer driver then click on Printers and Faxes then right click on the printer then Properties.

If not install the printer driver and install it on thr LPT1 printer port. Then click on Printers and Faxes then right click on the printer then Properties.

Then click on Ports tab - then click on Add Port - then select Standard TCP/IP Port - and configure this port with the IP address you assigned for the printer. Make sure you tick this Port box and tick Enable bidirectional printing - click Apply and then Close.
Then click General tab and Print Test Page.
If you get a test page then its OK, if not then go through the steps again - most likely the IP address is wrong.

Configuration

The best way to set this access point is to connect your computer directly to the device via Ethernet, disble the wireless adapter temporarily on the computer. Since this is just an access point and not a wireless router, it is not capable of providing your computer with an IP address because it has no DHCP functionality.

The IP address you mentioned is the deafault IP address of the access point, there is a posibility that the default IP has been change.

Do a reset on the access point then assign an IP address manually on your computer(i.e 192.168.1.x x- bein any number from 1 to 254 except 50)

Access the AP using Internet Explorer or Firefox, type http://192.168.1.50 on the address bar it should prompt you for a username and password(check you documentation for the default username and password for the access point)

Internet connection lost when wireless printer added to network

for reseting the password of ur dlink router u have to press the rest button on the dlink router (genrallyit on the bottom or on the back of the router it is like a hole u have to use a pen or pin to reset the router back to its factory default settings after that password of the router will automatically back to admin or password login to ur router change the settings to static ip in the router so that u can provide the static ip of the other router to ur this router (example if primary router HL 2170 ip address is 192.168.1.1 then u will provide this dlink router the ip address as 192.168.1.5, subnet 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.1.1 primary dns 192.168.1.1 now save the settings in the dlink router now the ethernet cable from ur other router will go directly in to the internetor wan port of this router. now connect wirelessly to any router both will work fine without any problem

Wireless printing

  • I presume that the printer is not directly connected to the PC. Now if the Printer is connected to the USB port on the router, you have to check if the router detects it and the printer server is online. Also since u changed the router, you will have to change the settings in your PC to reflect the IP address of the printer server (the router.)
  • If the MP830 is connected wirelessly to the router, make sure that the IP address of the printer is in the same subnet as your laptop. (Check the configuration settings, they can be configured using a browser by pointing it to the IP address of your printer)
