Large viewfinder only works when reversed &

Sony HVR-A1E. The large viewfinder only works when reversed & folded into the camera body. It does not work in any other position. I presume the wiring or contacts are intermittent. As a result I cannot use the large viewfinder when filming - as the angle is inconvenient. OK for viewing on playback.

The flexible board (as it is called) that takes the signals from the camera body to your screen is cracked. You will eventually find it will stop working altogether.
Send it off for repair.

I am one of the lead technicians at VideoOneRepair.com toll free 888 283 2228. We are a repair shop that specializes in only Sony and Canon Prosumer camcorders. The problem that you are experiencing with your Sony HVR-A1U camcorder is a common problem with this model camcorder. The ribbon cable that connects the LCD screen to the main part of the camcorder goes faulty and needs to be replaced. Sony also recommends that when this cable is replaced you must also replace a modified part to prevent this from happening again. The estimate to replace both of these parts is $360.19 parts and labor. This also includes cleaning and servicing. We also offer a 6 month guarantee on the entire camcorder, not just what it was sent in for. The estimate and the return shipping are free even if you do not have the camcorder repaired. Please feel free to call, email or post any questions you have and I would be happy to respond.

It sounds like you are using an aftermarket (non-sony) battery pack. The camcorder you are using probably requires the Genuine Sony 'Infolithium' Battery pack (usually in the box of the camera). If you are getting this message with the proper battery installed, i would contact SONY

How can I avoid camera moisture condensation on my Sony a1e camera, it keeps saying turn off for one hour or eject tape and is doing this constantly.

Camera gives Moisture error sign if it really have moisture condensation inside or its moisture sensor itself got defective.

if moisture is inside, blow hot air in camera mechanism for 5-6 minutes by hair dryer (not so closed with mechanism) and check / test.

If problem still exist it means moisture sensor is defective and i know its Sony high-end model camera and know how to fix it yet I would recommend to take camera to Sony Service center for proper repair.
